Re: 633 Squadron UK Blu-ray

Original UK press book quotes 94 mins while US press book quotes 101 mins, although US reviews quote both.

Re: Suddenly (1954) DVD ADDED

I don't know what you mean by "time-compressed theory".
"Normal" sequence of events is Film->NTSC or Film->PAL, not Film->PAL->NTSC.
And in the case of Sanctuary, the interlacing does not correspond simply to the PAL->NTSC one:

25fps to 30fps (PAL to NTSC)

Re: Suddenly (1954) DVD

The UK Sanctuary is probably NTSC-PAL. Its note claims "It is indeed native NTSC." But by whom? This is a very old comparison page as a whole.
It has a very strange interlace pattern, so may have been converted more than once.
It's certainly not NTSC 2:3 pull-down.

Re: Converting PAL-NTSC runtimes

PAL runtime x 1.04 = NTSC runtime.
As Ulrich stated above, it is 25/24=1.041666... (as many 6s as you like).

Using 1.04 is o.k. for rough comparisons, but if you are looking at small cuts of
a few seconds per 100 mins then 1.04167 is necessary.

Re: Goodnight Sweetheart (TV Series 1993–1999)

As noted in the Reviews of Series 1 & 2, the DVD packaging has comments about the music:

Series 1: "Features all the original music from the TV broadcast" - uncut
Series 2: "Features original music from the TV broadcast" - has (licensing) cuts
Series 3: "Features original music from the TV ...

Re: TV on DVD/Blu-ray

I always wait for the complete series/season release, but that has it's own issues - it requires patience and self-will, and it may never come. :-?
But at least the ones I do have are complete :-D

Apart from the odd disc (1 in 50) the entire Network release under "The British Film" tag is licensed from StudioCanal.

It's not a deal breaker. Frequently reviews get it wrong, the difference being small, we can live with either.

Re: The Day The Earth Caught Fire (1961) R2 UK Updated/Corre

John Trevelyan says not cut.
I don't have the BFI release to know what the stills are like, but on the DVD it is only with the benefit of 1/4 speed that you can catch anything, and it's not much. Also, it looks "accidental".
I can't see that there is room (in the UK version) for something more ...

Re: The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961) BR query

I have synch'ed the DVD and Blu-ray entries regards discussion of the cut status, and gone with "No known cuts" for now.

BTW
The reason I was asking is that an Amazon poster claims there is now a shot of Janet Munro topless reflected in a bathroom mirror which I don't think was there before.
it's ...

Re: The Day The Earth Caught Fire (1961) R2 UK

Thanks, details updated. I have gone with "No known cuts". I suspect that the melonfarmers simply translated the Janet Munro scene into American - they would get out of a shower and dry their hair. In the UK at the time it would have been the bath or the basin.
I'll add this to the Blu-ray entry as ...
