Do you watch movies that are in a language you are comfortable with, with subtitles?
A few people always give me funny looks when they come to the house and I pause an English film, and I have the subtitles on. Thinking about it, I have no idea why I do it, and it has become habit.

Just 12 episodes. 2 series of 6 episodes. We don't like to run things into the ground like our friends across the pond. Quit whilst you're ahead and forever be remembered I say.

The Monuments Men, weak 6/10
I am really missing some backstory of the characters, in order to make it easier to care about them. We do get to know more throughout the movie, but it still doesn't feel enough.
The editing is also quite abrupt at times, it is quite hard to get a grip of whom is going ...

12 Years a Slave, 8/10
It was still showing in the local cinema, so decided to see it tonight. Some random thoughts, as they come to my mind:
Liked that most (but not all) characters that they focused on, became more than the typical caricatures you would expect.
Would liked to have seen a more ...

Re: DVD/Blu-ray annoyances?
One, admittedly not really important, annoyance is some, mainly US, DVDs have the plastic wrapper glued to the spine of the keep case, resulting in an ugly and uneven surface.
That most UK blurays have a thicker keep case then those I buy here in Sweden or import from US.

Re: Dinosaurus! (R1 USA) ADDED
Hmm re audio confirmation, sounds like the AV decoder adds a subjective element that could confuse the issue (to newbies perhaps).
So you don't use any PC software that definitively gives you the 2.0 audio used? Personally I use a combination of Shrink/VLC/MPClassic, but have not found any one ...

I was already thinking of using Canadian Amazon, but remembering all the troubles I have had with Canadian postal service was keeping me from doing that.

Saw it too, and was thinking of how to rate it.Noor_Razzak wrote:Elysium 6/10 - not nearly as good as District 9, and the themes were a bit heavy handed.
I thought that the execution of it was really good, but had problems with ignoring that the story and premises seemed so full of holes.
Maybe 7/10.

Re: 720p or 1080p?
Sorry in advance for sort of changing the subject, but are there any blurays released that actually have the video encoded in 720p? Or for that matter in SD? (For clarification, I mean main feature not bonus material)

Re: Customs/Royal Mail charges.
How strict is the UK customs then, because here in Sweden they will typically ignore anything under £30 (with shipping included, not sure if there is an actual minimum level)? Has also gotten some item worth over £100 passed without customs. Packages from US seems more likely to be caught here than ...

Not sure if this or the Comparison list were best for this.
In the actual comparison: http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2232 there is a note that says "Poor image quality – too many episodes on one disk, resulting in compression artefacts".
My problem with this note, is not so ...

Yes, the original comment about it, was what made me really interesting. Loved Brick, but to be honest, I'm probably a sucker for anything that could be called Film Noir.Samuel_Scott wrote:Have you seen Brick? Also fantastic and also stars Levitt.

Anybody else seen this yet? I've been away all week but spent an entire day in the cinema and did 5 movies and this was my most wanted because I'm such a big fan of Rian Johnson's Brick. Anyway, Looper was fantastic.
