The Moroder musical version has its many deriders, but I really enjoyed it. I've read though that the picture quailty for the official DVD/Blu-ray releases isn't very good and hasn't had any (or minimal) remastering. There is an unofficial DVD version to be had called "Redux" which is very good as it uses the remastered Complete Metropolis (B&W) version and has then had new tints applied to match Moroder's version. I'm not sure why Kino Video didn't think of doing something like this.
