Elysium 6/10 - not nearly as good as District 9, and the themes were a bit heavy handed.
2 Guns 6/10 - fairly entertaining, the banter between Denzel and Mark was pretty funny.
Jobs 3/10 - fairly bland movie for someone that was considered a visionary.

I thought that the execution of it was really good, but had problems with ignoring that the story and premises seemed so full of holes.

Two Scoops - Robert Rodriguez's latest short film. Can someone please explain to me why I love his movies but his shorts just don't do it for me? His best is probably Bedhead, and even that I only rated a 6/10 whilst his movies often hit 7s and 8s, even 10s with me.

Space Warriors - Wow, how sad to see such actors as Mira Sorvino and Danny Glover reduced to supporting roles in low budget kids films. Now, Space Warriors is far from the worst movie I have seen of this type, and it can be a little fun, but I think it really misses what its target audience wants, and they don't want something that feels as drawn out as this does. The problem with Space Warriors, is the main kid is both an annoying and terrible actor, and that adds to making the whole story boring, even though it has a few interesting (and flawed... and stupid...) ideas. 4/10

Broken City - This is pretty much a by-the-numbers thriller which is a real shame because the great cast assembled here are all capable of so much better. Although I never found it boring at any point, I was dismayed at how cliched it was, and also with how silly some of the twists were in the final third. Still, I think it's certainly worthy of a viewing for fans of the cast. 6/10

The Lifeguard - Deeper than you might expect on second reflection, The Lifeguard is actually quite a good little drama about a journalist who returns to her hometown and sleeps with the luckiest high school student in the history of Earth. It's nothing new, and sometimes a lulls a little, but it's certainly a solid enough debut from Liz Garcia. 6/10

Knight of the Dead - Worst film I have seen in quite some time. I've never said this before, because I have zero creative artistry in me, but I honestly think I could've done better than this with my mates and a few hundred quid. Worse than Movie 43, Scary Movie 5 and A Haunted House merged together. 1/10

Beautiful Creatures - Loved the settings, really loved the cast and how the youngsters were serious, and how the veterans hammed it up brilliantly, and the first hour had me gripped. The lacklustre second hour really lost it's way though, feeling poorly paced and stretched out. CGI wasn't the greatest either. Worth a watch, but don't expect great things. 6/10

Dark Skies - It never became anything more than chilling throughout, when this is the type of movie that should use the circumstances to try and make it terrifying. I thought the casting was okay, some of the set pieces were well conceived and score half-decent, but it was too conventional to warrant anything above a 6/10 for me. 6/10

The Host - I'm a fan of Andrew Niccol. Gattaca is one of the best sci-fi movies of all time, and his other movies have all been good fun, including the underrated In Time. Unfortunately, this effort is lacking. There is a severe lack of screen time for Diane Kruger and not enough of Kruger chasing Ronan - which is the best element of the movie for me. The opening was a little silly, but enjoyable, and I did actually find the ending to be quite good with a set-up to what could actually be an entertaining sequel if there was ever to be one, but the teen romance hour in the middle? Horrible. 4/10

Hell Baby - After already viewing a couple of poor horror comedies this year (A Haunted House and Scary Movie 5), I did not enter this one with the highest hopes, especially with not being a big fan of the filmmakers Reno 911 show and movie. However, I am a fan of Rob Corddry and Leslie Bibb, the stars of this one, and I was quite surprised at some of the jokes and how funny this could be. Don't get me wrong, it is poorly made and the thinly veiled plot is only there to string the set pieces together, but it's worth watching for the finale alone, and easily outdoes the previous horror comedies I have mentioned. 6/10

Drinking Buddies - The cast play off each other exceptionally well (especially Wilde and Johnson), and the story feels fluent and natural, never losing focus but still allowing for dilemmas to play out as they might do in a real situation. Drinking Buddies is an enjoyable feature, that doesn't bend easily for the conventional audience. 7/10

The Heat 6/10 - The chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy is excellent, some really funny bits to the film but overall pretty generic buddy cop comedy but this time with two female leads.
