If Alliance are Canadian, then I guess it must be. I bought it from Amazon.com directly, and DVD Profiler has it down as a US release, so it never occurred to me it wasn't American. But like I, if Alliance are Canadian, then it must be.

Alliance is the Canadian release indeed. US release is from Buena Vista.
Easy mistake to make as Amazon.com and Marketplace sellers often sell the Canadian counterparts and vice versa.

Are the extras identical on the Blu-ray and the DVD?
The Canadian Alliance release seems to be a BD/DVD combo, while the US Buena Vista is separate BD and DVD releases.
I'm also surprised the Alliance doesn't have French audio or subtitles...

Yeah it's a combo pack, but the special features are different. As I said in the original post, the scholar commentary track and the LA rehearsal featurette are only on the Blu-ray.
And no, there's no French language or subtitle options on either disk.

By the way, I see the back of the DVD case of the Alliance DVD says the second audio commentary is there (as does the back of the US DVD)
Are you sure it's not on the DVD copy?

That's bizarre. Yeah, the second commentary is there, but there doesn't seem to be any way to access it from the menus. I had to manually select the appropriate audio track. I've triple checked, and it's definitely not in the menus. When you select "Audio Commentary", you're brought to a screen that just has the director track, nothing else. I've checked the other menus as well (I know the commentary track for Blade is only selectable in the "Set Up" menu). Bottom line - the second commentary is on the disk, but I can't find it anywhere in the menus. I wonder is that just a glitch on my copy?

Probably just bad authoring of the disc. I will put it in the notes of the entry.
