Similar deal to Warner in the USA.
Are Paramount struggling moneywise? I know DVD/Blu-ray isn't the cash cow it was ten years ago, but still...

They're already distributed by Universal in this part of the world... I doubt they're struggling considering they have one of the most lucrative franchises in all of cinema (Transformers) but then again they lost the distribution rights for Marvel to Disney so that's probably dented their pockets a bit..

It would still account for a very small % in the grand scheme of things though. MGM have the Bond franchise and they were extremely close to going tits up.Alister_Manson wrote:I doubt they're struggling considering they have one of the most lucrative franchises in all of cinema (Transformers)

I don't actually think the Bond films gross nearly as much as Transformers though.. Sony is having problems too apparently. I reckon the main problem is there's just too many films coming out and no one can afford the time or cost of seeing them all. I generally prefer watching at home, in fact I didn't even bother going to see the last Hobbit film at the cinema because the 48fps makes it look like a giant TV show Plus digital projection at 24fps is just crap, until they get up to something like 12K or 14K resolution it's just going to look like a blown-up Blu Ray image.

Skyfall is the 9th highest grossing movie of all time with over $1.1 billion at the box office alone! Add all the home media sales to that plus TV rights etc, you would think MGM would have done alright.
The latest Transformers is 10th (3rd was 7th beating Skyfall by a relatively small amount.

Wow, I guess I underestimated the popularity of Bond just a tad Obviously these companies are run in a similar way to the average military organization, the money goes in one door and straight out the other...
