Re: What did you watch today?
36. The Fury (UK Blu)
I had almost no memory of this movie: great cast here, but again I never really got into it. Main characters (Douglas and his son especially) should have been more developed: I never really cared about what could happen to them. I do admit Scanners took a lot of ideas from The Fury, but on this one, Cronenberg is miles ahead in very area - 6/10.
37. American Sniper (Theater)
Not really convinced by this movie, kind of stuck between action and drama. Good performance by Bradley Cooper and pretty good war scenes - 6/10
38. Pompéi (Broadcast)
I do admit it has some beautiful scenes concerning the eruption. Other than that, this movie runs somewhere between Gladiator and Spartacus (the TV series), but is far from both. We don't see Carrie Ann-Moss a lot, characters are rather hollow, nothing special with action scenes... 4/10
39. A Streetcar Named Desire (French Blu)
First viewing. This is a movie that owes almost everything to its two main actors. Marlon Brando is both moving and dangerous, Vivien Leigh is caught between despair and madness. Just a classic! 8/10
40. Rollerball (2002) (French Blu)
First viewing as well… this movie deserves its reputation, there's really nothing to salvage here. Poor scenario, actors, action scenes in which it's hard to see what happens, no emotions… it's hard to believe such a director could achieve this movie - 2/10.
41. Gomorra #1 (Broadcast)
Good Italian series about the Napolitan mob. I liked the mood and the actors, script could have been better, despite a few surprises - 7/10.

THE LAST SEDUCTION (First viewing; YouTube) - 7.5/10
I missed watching this when it played at the cinemas as I thought it was just an ordinary erotic thriller. I guessed it only played for less than a couple of weeks before slipping away. I was quite surprised to find that this was actually more interesting than what I thought. Other than Linda Fiorentino's femme fatale character (even though the plot doesn't explain her evil motive) and John Dahl's noirish direction, another thing that instantly stands out is the laid back jazzy score that plays throughout the film.

American Horror Story - Season 1, E1 to E5.
Re: What did you watch today?
Creature Double Feature:
OCTAMAN (First viewing; YouTube) - 2/10
- Curious to know how bad this film is. The Octaman costume resembles that of a Japanese tokusatsu monster character. Belongs to Z-grade movies. It is that bad!
GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE (First viewing; YouTube) - 3/10
- Another Z-grade horror movie of the 70's that plays like a soap opera. William Smith plays the son of a modern day vampire. After discovering that his vampire dad was the cause of his mother's death - his mom was a victim of his dad - he seeks revenge. So, the plot is basically about a vampire father and son family matter

Vampire family drama can be good if done correctly... Subspecies and the first Underworld film are good examples

Re: What did you watch today?
PREMATURE BURIAL (First viewing; YouTube) - 6.5/10
Quite an interesting piece of adaptation from Edgar Allan Poe's story about the fear of a cataleptic artist named Guy (Ray Milland) toward death. His irrational fear has taken over his sanity that he decided to prepare his own premature burial (and "self-resurrection") through more than one imaginative ways. His beloved wife, for fear of losing her dear husband, attempts to clear up his morbid thoughts with the assistance of a doctor. However, the subsequent happenings are not what they seemed to be.
Not a must-buy, but worth a watch.
Talking about Ray Milland's Roger Corman's films soon to be released on US BD, "X The Man with the X-ray Eyes", which has a more unusual plot, is the better of the two.
