The Decameron (1971) R2 UK
http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2517
The BFI has released this film twice, with different specs:
BFIVD507: original non-anamorphic release from 2001 (already in the database)
BFIVD837: 2009 anamorphic release with the same new transfer as the Blu-Ray (BFIB1017) released at the same time
The film is currently sold as a dual-format edition BFIB1115. I guess this contains both BFIVD837 and BFIB1017 but I haven't seen it.
Specs for the 2009 DVD (I copied the format from Arabian Nights http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=3133):
Extras:
*The Movie (Italian version)
English subtitles
Italian Dolby Digital 2.0 Dual Mono
*The Movie (English version)
English HoH subtitles
English Dolby Digital 2.0 Dual Mono
Notes for an African Oresteia (70:18)
Theatrical trailer (2:21)
Aspect Ratio: sleeve claims 1.85:1 but on measurement it's nearer 1.79:1
Picture Format: Anamorphic
TV System: PAL
Case type: Keep Case
UPC Number: BFIVD837
Notes: 20-page booklet
Cuts: None
- http://bbfc.co.uk/releases/decameron-1971
- the original video release was cut
- the cuts section in the database says "according to BBFC, Warner submitted a version with run time 106:56 PAL in 1988 (40 sec longer than the BFI version)". This isn't quite correct: according to the BBFC, the Warner version is 106:35, 20 sec longer than the BFI version
- the Blu-Ray is in the database as uncut (http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=21721, I don't know the source) and this DVD has the same transfer.
- According to the BBFC, the 2009 DVD is 30s longer than the 2001 DVD, so the cuts may have been restored, but they may also be the durations for different versions (Italian and English) or simply a difference in source materials
- http://www.criterionforum.org/forum/vie ... php?t=9232 suggests the 2009 versions of all three Trilogy of Life films are uncut
Duration:
- 106:34 (Italian version)
- 106:52 (English version) (there is additional United Artists branding at the beginning)
ASIN: B001TQRO9O
Sources:
- I borrowed the DVD from the library

Unfortunately the booklet was missing from "my" copy, so I don't know the contents.
