Well i would not called it a bootleg. It is public display rls but the quality is from VHS and several of this movies are not rls anywhere els.

Forced Japanese and Chinese subtitles on some of the titles? This is a strange choice for a supposed US release. The subtitle button on the remote doesn't work?

Yes It's burnt-in Japanese subtitles sourced from a VHS or Digi-Beta.
Well the reason the only source i guess they couldnt find
I dont use the remote. I use a computer to check the subtitles and they cant be removed

There is no way say they stole it. It could be that they got a Japanese digi-beta source (which is very common in transfer to VHS) and didnt want to spend money make it a into better quality
I know this from for because i know one of the founder of Ec. So bad quality doesnt meant stolen. In spain most Blu-ray is a bootleg but the quality is in many cases perfect.

The Japanese are quite strict on their masters, and I find it hard to believe that some companies are willing to license their VHS transfers from 30 years ago to some bargain bin DVD company overseas.Åsmund_Utvik wrote:There is no way say they stole it. "Soldier of Fortune" was released on VHS in Japan by Toshiba. Again, I find it very unlikely that "Video Asia" legally licensed a 30 year old VHS master from them.
"Raiders of the Magic Ivory" was released on VHS in Japan by Pack-In-Video, which released B-movies and also video games for multiple consoles. They pretty much closed shop in 1996 by Victor-JVC who are not in the film business anymore. So I find that hard for "Video Asia" to legally license the video master.
In discussion of whether to add these grey market titles.

Just a few things I will correct:
The titles you said have forced subtitles are wrong, but are burned-in.
"Mannigan's Force" has burned in Japanese subtitles, not Chinese.
"Raiders of the Magic Ivory", "War Bus" and "Tiger Joe" are in NTSC and not PAL.
"Tiger Joe" is in 2.35:1 non-anamorphic and not 1.33:1 or 1.66:1.
