Post Notes

Releasing Studio
I believe the releasing studio is Asmik Ace, but I'm not 100% sure how to determine this. Asmik Ace's Japanese website lists the title and says "発売:アスミック・エース" which Google Translate says "Release: Asmik Ace" so that's the best I can assume.

Aspect Ratio
Every website I can find that lists the Japanese BD says the aspect ratio is 2.35:1, as does the BD jacket itself, however blu-ray.com lists it as 2.37:1 (original 2.35:1). I have no way to confirm the true aspect ratio myself.

Extras
My region-free Sony BDP-S3700 says the extras are all 1080p 60fps (except for the theatrical trailer, which it says is 1080p 24fps); I can only assume this is what they were encoded at, and not what the original source resolutions were. The deleted scenes featurette is clearly brought in from a lower quality source; it even flashes an English title "My Blueberry Nights DVD Bonus" at the beginning which makes me think it's 480p just encoded at 1080p for the disc. I don't know the technical ins-and-outs of blu-ray authoring so if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about it's because my knowledge/expertise here is limited.

Hi Mark, thanks for the info.
Your BD player saying the extras are "1080p 60fps" seems incorrect, as Blu-rays cannot do 60fps progressively. (On the other hand UHDs are able to do so).Your player may be upscaling SD content or 1080i 30fps content to 60fps. For now I have labeled the trailer as 1080p only.

As for the aspect ratio may be 2.37:1 if measured with a ruler, but we will leave it as 2.35:1 as the inlay states.

Asmik Ace is the rightsholder and theatrical distributor of the film in Japan. The older DVD releases were distributed by Kadokawa, and the Blu-rays the distributor changed to Sony so we will label this as a Sony release.

Added the release, thanks!
