Anamorphic?: Yes[?]
Could you confirm this? Anamorphic fullscreen? This is very rare.

Also the description on Amazon states a photo gallery. Is it not on either disc?

Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (widescreen)
As for the Blu-ray's aspect ratio - is it 1.78:1?

PAL or NTSC?: NTSC
You copied and pasted the DVD info. Could you provide the Blu-ray codec?

Board index ‹ Rewind Comparisons ‹ Reference has a page called
Anamorphic / Non-Anamorphic DVD transfers at http://dvdcompare.net/forums/phpbb3/vie ... 28&t=22435
but none of the images display there.

Board index ‹ Rewind Comparisons ‹ Your Comparisons has a page called
Guide to Aspect ratios / Anamorphic / Non-Anamorphic at http://dvdcompare.net/forums/phpbb3/vie ... =9&t=32492
which leads me to believe that anamorphic 1:33:1 is a contradiction in terms,
so that means what is on the Return of the Living Dead 3 DVD is non-anamorphic 1:33:1
James-Masaki_Ryan wrote:Also the description on Amazon states a photo gallery. Is it not on either disc?
There is indeed a Photo Gallery on the Blu-ray. It has 15 pics. I missed it because
all the menu items are in Japanese. The DVD has no Photo Gallery.

Yes. 1.78:1 according to http://dvdcompare.net/forums/phpbb3/vie ... =9&t=32492

I am very unfamiliar with Blu-ray specifications. Please give examples of Blu-ray codecs.

When I press the audio button or OSC button or Display button, it says English DTS-HD MA Stereo.
When I press the Display button, to the right of the BDMV icon it says AVC.
On the back of the Blu-ray/DVD box it says in the Blu-ray section DTS-HD Master Audio/2.0ch and 16:9 [1080p Hi-Def] and MPEG-4 AVC
On the back of the Blu-ray/DVD box it says in the DVD section, [Japanese]/2.0ch and 4:3 and MPEG-2

Got it. Although to say there are in fact anamorphic 1.33:1 DVDs out there. I reviewed one about a year ago.

OK.
Steven_Feldman wrote:Yes. 1.78:1 according to http://dvdcompare.net/forums/phpbb3/vie ... =9&t=32492
OK.
Steven_Feldman wrote:I am very unfamiliar with Blu-ray specifications. Please give examples of Blu-ray codecs.
MPEG-2, VC-1, AVC MPEG-4, MVC.
Steven_Feldman wrote:When I press the audio button or OSC button or Display button, it says English DTS-HD MA Stereo.

On the back of the Blu-ray/DVD box it says in the Blu-ray section DTS-HD Master Audio/2.0ch and 16:9 [1080p Hi-Def] and MPEG-4 AVC

"AVC" is what we are looking for.

OK, added it, thanks!

How would one know one to see one? What should I look for in order to tell the difference?

At http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/f ... ?fid=39685

you accidentally have this:

Blu-ray A Japan - TC Entertainment
Limited Edition
Extras:
DISC ONE (Blu-ray)
* The Film - Theatrical Version
Photo Gallery (15 stills)
Trailer (1:42)

DISC TWO (DVD)
* The Film - Unrated Version
Subtitles: Japanese (optional)
Aspect Ratio: 1.78:1
Picture Format: 1080p 24fps AVC MPEG-4
Soundtrack(s): English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo

The DVD isn't MPEG-4 and I don't think its audio is DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo.

If you have a 4:3 monitor the 1.33:1 image would get windowboxed. If you play the DVD on a computer, the image will show additional black bars encoded to the left and right.

You're looking at the Blu-ray page so the specs are for the Blu-ray. It's correct.
