I know. Sorry. I posted these a few hours ago. You won't see any more new listings from me for weeks.

In the DVD's onscreen menu, it says:
Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1
Japanese Dolby Digital 2.0

On the back of the box, it says: Stereo Surround Sound 5.1

My Blu-ray player shows this:
Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1
Japanese Dolby Digital Stereo

Also, now that I know that I can ascertain regions with DVDFab,
I put in the American Sadako DVD, and it turns out that it is not Region 1. DVDFab lists it as Region 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

I was not aware that American manufacturers made all region/region free/region 0 discs.

Many of Well Go's discs are region free.
So correctly the 2.0 track is "2.0 stereo".

Really? I have no way of knowing. Is "regular" stereo "2.0 stereo"?

Is there a guide somewhere on this website that explains such things?

Yes, as stereo means two channels of differing audio.

Basically Dolby Digital 2.0 could mean mono, stereo, or surround.
Mono would have the same audio coming from 2 speakers.
Stereo would have differing audio coming from the right and left speakers, usually music cues will play with differing left and right audio.
Surround means the track is encoded to automatically spread the 2.0 signal to the right, center, left, and surround speakers on a surround sound setup. This ONLY can be done with Dolby audio. DTS, LPCM, mpeg 2.0 audio cannot be encoded with surround.

In the DVD's onscreen menu, it says:
• Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1
• Japanese Dolby Digital 2.0

My Blu-ray player shows this:
• Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1
• Japanese Dolby Digital Stereo

DVDFab Media Player shows:
• Japanese - AC3 5.1
• Japanese - AC3 Stereo

DVD Shrink has this:
• AC3 5.1-ch Japanese
• AC3 2-ch Japanese

Please choose which of the above I should use on a regular basis.
Listing all three for every entry I make seems like unnecessary work to me.

steven: Freeware: Use media Player Classic. That player is the easiest. It should give you info correct.
(if i dont autoplay use the fil menu)
Payware: For blue-ray on the computer powerdvd is the best
For region zones: Use Dvd decrypter (yeah you get lots of errors now and then but that have to with the reading of the dvds) (doesnt work on the blu-rays)

I don't think Media Player Classic works in Windows 7, which I have on my PC (it worked when I had
a Windows XP machine, though).

I have DVDFab, which is better than DVD Decrypter because it's up-to-date whereas DVD Decrypter
is obsolete, at least in comparison.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You should list the language (Japanese) the type of audio (Dolby Digital) and number of channels (5.1 and 2.0) and if 2.0, whether it is mono, stereo, or surround.
