The Wicker Man (1973) UPDATED

Post by Brent_Reid »

The 25 min Christopher Lee interview on various DVDs and the UK BD needs correcting to the following:
  • "Critic's Choice" 1979 interview with director Robin Hardy and actor Christopher Lee
As I don't have the UK BD, are you sure its Final Cut is actually 2.0 stereo, as currently noted? The US BD listing says 2.0 mono, which does seem more likely.

On a similar note, although the UK BD listing says "All extras are in HD unless otherwise specified", some detailed reviews indicate that the "Burnt Offering" documentary is an SD upconvert, which again makes more sense. Also, they say the listed "Theatrical Trailers (1:58)" is actually the single "Original theatrical trailer (2:09)", as featured on most DVDs, and that it's also in SD.

Lastly, for the US BD, you might like to amend its trailer to: "The Final Cut" theatrical Trailer (1:30).

Checked and the UK release was mono as well. Also went ahead and updated the entire UK entry which had missing details.

Great work! I'm currently prepping a big article on this film and its associated releases and you've confirmed several things I strongly suspected. All will soon be revealed... ;)

PS: a minor spelling spelling mistake remains: "worshiping".

"Worshiping" is the American spelling. The featurette on the menu is listed as "Worshiping" while the back cover lists "Worshipping". Made the decision to spell it as stated on the disc.

Blimey, I never knew that! There are some v strange US and UK different spellings, but that one's just daft: it looks like it should be pronounced "wor-shy-ping". So do the Americans have "shiping" lanes or "shipping" lanes; when they're high, are they "triping" or "tripping"? "I'm glad to say that online at least, most agree. Google returns 11.9 million matches for "worshiping" vs 16.4 million for "worshipping". A victory for common sense! :D

It is a strange one. My spellcheck configured for US English spelling stated it was wrong. US spells "Shipping" with 2 p's but "Worshiping" with 1 p. Maybe because American religious nuts don't know how to spell?
