The current listing of "Just Good Friends(TV-series)" R2 UK-DVD (released by Eureka) is missing some important information concerning some music censorship.

According to WIKI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_Good ... D_releases + many Amazon.co.uk reviews, The Christmas-Special episode has a portion of the episode edited - removing (possibly substituting) some background music playing. Also the original character dialogue I think is muted during that scene and subtitled instead.

There are x3 series of this title (all of which are listed on DVDCOMPARE) but I'm not quite sure where the Christmas-Special episode fits / in which volume it was released on the Eureka-R2 UK-DVD (Amazon reviews suggest it is included on DVD at the beginning of series3).

alternate/muted audio starts at about 5:05 to about 8:40 where vince and penny meet for the first time at a party. in the original broadcast version, you can hear what the actors are saying with the songs ("(i can't get no) satisfaction" and "not fade away") in the background. in the retail version you only hear the songs - actors voices muted. however, you can read what the actors are saying via the subtitles.

actors voices are heard between 8:40 and 8:48. then actors voices are muted again until 13:18. songs heard are "Little Red Rooster" and "As Tears Go By". again, actors words can be read via subtitles.

i do not know if there are other alternate audio in the christmas special episode.

According to the wikipedia article, the episode starts with a notice that music was changed on the Eureka release. But Sunny, the songs "Satisfaction" and "Not Fade Away" are played during the scene and not replaced with different songs? Only the actors voices are removed?

james, yup, all those 4 songs can be heard in the original broadcast and the retail version.

i'm not an expert in Rolling Stones songs, so take the following with a pinch of salt (for the retail version):
- "Satisfaction" seems to be sung by Rolling Stones(?)
- "Not Fade Away" not sure who sings it.
- "Little Red Rooster" sung by someone else, deep south american style(?)
- "As Tears Go By" sung by a woman.

Oh sorry, I don't actually know anymore than what I originally posted. I didn't really know you guys needed more information about this - I sort of assumed the WIKI report and many peoples comments / reviews on Amazon.co.uk would be enough... Perhaps I should have started this thread in the other section or something - my bad. (Am kind of new to this forum site - I just knew of this title with the music copyright censorship stuff involved and figured I'd point it out).

By the way, just for some additional information maybe - you guys have checked peoples comments / reviews on Amazon.co.uk haven't you? Figures though - they originally got permission to include all these copyright music in movies/tv-shows when showing them on TV - yet home-media is denied this content? Really is annoying. Also they rarely if ever show some of these shows on TV and on top of that the content is STILL censor-copyright on TV anyway - the place they originally got permission to show it in the first place?! Ach, just and endless cycle of nonsense. (Sorry I'll stop ranting now ). Anyway, apologies if I originally started this thread in the wrong section - just trying to help that's all....

according to one person on amazon, the bbc australia retail dvd version of JGF has the original broadcast audio for the xmas episode. you can search for that particular release on ebay uk, specifying R4 in the filters. including postage, the cheapest cost is about £23.

Sunny, since you do have the DVD, is it possible to at least check "Satisfaction" with the official Rolling Stones album version here? Does it sound the same or does it sound like some other band is covering the song? Or is it a song that sounds similar but not exactly "Satisfaction"?

Er, no I don't have the DVD to check am afraid.

I do my own online research of backgrounds of many titles (what there is available online to find anyway) before buying DVD's, and prefer not to buy any that have been cut/censored/whatever (hope one day they might be released uncut and not messed up - live in hope ).

All I know is, I learned about the censorship stuff of this title, noticed this site was missing that info and could possibly use the updated info. Apart from that, I don't think I can be much more help really on this topic - was kind of relying on you guys to fill in the blanks heheheheh. Seriously though, appreciate all you guys can do.

Those are definitely cover versions. Seems strange they would do that but I guess that was cheaper than paying for the actual Stones version.
