Suggested footnote:
The non-anamorphic US DVD was re-released in new packaging, falsely stating it was anamorphic. Later the disc was quietly remastered with an anamorphic transfer, also issued in the new packaging. Unfortunately, all three iterations of the DVD use the same ASIN (1558908846). The anamorphic disc is also included in the Cop Land/Judge Dredd 2-DVD set (ASIN B000Y11BB2).
Apparently Buena Vista did the same thing with a raft of titles; info in these two short threads:

Funny thing is, I love Sly and have collected and seen most of his films, but not this one. Never had any interest in seeing him massacre ol' Joe. Now Karl Urban: he's Dredd!

So the Cop Land/Judge Dredd set is anamorphic? Where is the info and specs for that?

As I said, I don't own Sly's Dredd at all. Perhaps you can post a request for a DVDC member to supply them? Lack of them doesn't stop you adding the following to the footnote though:
"Later still, the newly packaged disc was actually remastered as anamorphic. That disc is also available in... [link to 2-DVD set].

Re: Dredd (1995) US DVD
But where did you get the information that it was anamorphic?

Re: Dredd (1995) US DVD
I was going by a photo of the double pack's rear sleeve, also denoting both films as being anamorphic, and the fact that pack was released so long after the original (2011 as opposed to 1998), that it must feature the improved version. On second thoughts though, those threads still constitute less than empirical proof, so it's perhaps best to leave this unless a member can confirm they own an R1 anamorphic DVD.

Re: Dredd (1995) US DVD UPDATED
As ever, you're welcome. Before you close this thread, there's the small matter of our by-now-customary typo: "stating is it anamorphic". It currently looks more like a question than a statement!
