Madhouse (1974) (Amicus movie directed by Jim Clark), UK MGM/Altitude Films DVD:
1. includes one extra: Theatrical Trailer (1:42)
2. runtime is 87:38 PAL, equivalent to 91:17.
3. Given that the equivalent runtime is less than that of the Blu-ray release, and the runtime is pretty much the same as the German DVD which might be cut, this DVD might be cut too, but the BBFC website says this movie was passed uncut. I also own the Blu-ray, but not watched it yet. I might be able to compare the two at some point and provide feedback on this. If anyone knows roughly where in the movie the shots are that might be cut, that would be useful.
All other details seem to be correct.
Source: I own a copy.

Re: Madhouse (1974) UK DVD / US Blu-ray
A few corrections for the US Kino Lorber Blu-ray:
1. featurette name / runtime is "The Revenge of Dr. Death" (10:56)
2. As well as the "Madhouse" and "Tales of Terror" trailers, it also includes these trailers:
"The Oblong Box" (1:56)
"Twice Told Tales" (2:43)
3. Total runtime is 91:57 (database currently says 91:46). At the start there is:
Kino Lorber logo (0:10)
black frames (0:02)
MGM lion (0:09)
black frames (0:03)
Then the movie proper starts at 0:24, beginning with an AIP logo.
The movie also ends with an AIP logo, fading to black at 91:38, with the music ending at 91:40, followed by black frames, then the MGM lion appears again at 91:50 until the end at 91:57.
On the UK Altitude DVD, the movie begins with the AIP logo at 0:00, and at the end fades to black at 87:30, with the music ending at 87:32, followed by a few black frames, then the MGM lion, then more black, ending at 87:38.
Comparing the net runtimes from where the AIP logo starts to where the music ends, we have:
Kino Lorber Blu-ray: 0:24 to 91:40 = 91:16
Altitude DVD: 0:00 to 87:32 = 87:32 PAL, equivalent to 91:11
So the effective difference is about 5 seconds.
This does not really resolve matters, as 5 seconds could be just the odd frame missing from the beginnings/ends of various shots, or it could be actual cuts (e.g. for violence). I haven't watched the Blu-ray yet, but when I do I can look out for shots of burning / impalement and then check on the DVD to see if they are present.
4. I can also confirm that the Kino Lorber Blu-ray is region A locked.

Thanks Eric.
All looks fine, although I notice you only put the 'net' runtime for the Kino Blu-ray. Is it standard practice to do this, or should the total runtime be included as well?

I note "minus the logos" when I do but I know I have not done that on all Kinos and cannot speak for anyone else.Darrel_Griffin wrote:Thanks Eric.

I have never done that and I have never seen anyone else doing that here and I never will.
