So there are two German subtitle tracks - one for Germany and one for Austrian dialect? Very unusual.
Also are they optional?

Yes. I found it unusual too. The onscreen subtitle options show 3 languages: Aus, Deu, and Eng. They are optional.

In German “Austria” is spelled “oesterreich”, so this doesn’t seem right. “Aus” in German is “out” or “off”. Please double check by playing with that option.

You're right. There're only German and English subs. The Aus means off. Corrected my post.

Both the 1080p and the PAL DVD have the same runtime. Is this right? Either the DVD is a PAL to NTSC transfer or the Blu-ray is a 24 to 25fps transfer. Do you know which?

I'm not knowledgeable on this. I think it's the latter. Perhaps the information shown on my laptop when playing the DVD can help:

Player information:
Player region code: 2
Current drive: E:
Title region code: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, All

Display information:
Video mode: Progressive
Display mode: DirectDraw
FourCC code: YUY2
Surface type: Overlay

Video attributes:
Video compression mode: MPEG-2 (DxVA off)
TV system: 625/50 (PAL)
Aspect ratio: 16:9
Display mode: Only Letterbox
Source picture resolution: 720x576 (625/50)
Frame rate: 25.00
Source picture letterboxed: Not letterboxed
Bitrate: 8.01Mbps

One thing that's apparent on the DVD is that the people in the film walk slightly faster.

So it’s certain the DVD is PAL, though it still doesn’t rule out the transfer method. Is it confirmed that the Blu-ray is 1080p amd not 1080i?

Also what do you mean by people walking fast?

This might answer the question. Another Italian release American Rickshaw by Cinestrange Extreme that came out on the same day (14 December) is in 1080i 50Hz. http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/f ... ?fid=49566

Like a Chaplin film but not that fast. That's only happening when I play the DVD on my laptop.

As for “walking fast” it should be the same speed for both the Blu and DVD, since they have the same runtime, correct? So were you able to double check whether this is 1080p or not?

I've found one thread about the title in a German/Austrian forum that confirms my guess (1080i). Read post #3. Hope it helps: https://forum.dtm.at/forum/d-t-filmwelt ... inestrange

Listed it as 1080i. Again, important to please double check disc specs if you have them in hand. Thank you.
