Mackenna's Gold (1969) ADDED

Post by Brent_Reid »

I have the German DVD (ASIN B00005NVN5) and can confirm it's identical to the other R2 discs. It's also in the 5-film "Legend Diary by Gregory Peck" collection (ASIN B000HXDX4A).
The runtime is 122:50, missing from other listings, as are those for the trailers:
  • MacKenna's Gold (4:54)
    Alvarez Kelly (2:58)
    The Man from Laramie (2:10)
The ASIN of the listed original US flipper DVD is B01GWC0QJ4. Sony's reissue (B00004TJJU) has the pan and scan side only, but has 5.1 audio, as opposed to the previous disc's 5.0. Otherwise it's identical.
Sony have also reissued the film in the "4-Movie Most Wanted Westerns Collection" (ASIN B00DL6ICD2). This transfer is in both widescreen and with 5.1 audio.

Other missing ASINs:
  • UK: B0001XLXIY
    French: B00005MEIT
The Dutch listing is missing its French sub option. That DVD is also in the 8-film "Western Classics Collection" and the 5-film "Classic Westerns Collection".

Cheers James. :)

My German disc is also encoded for region 4, as per the UK disc and, I assume, all the other PAL DVDs. It also appears to have exactly the same spec as the Oz DVD (scan). This follows the same pattern as numerous other Columbia Tristar discs we've added from that period.
