The old master for the open matte US Universal DVD was mistakenly reissued by Warner Bros. at the same time as their remastered widescreen BD. The DVD is an exact port of the Universal disc and its ASIN is B00HT2L7VS. There are dozens of Amazon reviews complaining about this; one is even from William Friedkin himself!
Warner reissued the corrected, remastered disc a few months later and that's the one currently listed.

It should be noted that all releases bar the US Universal and first US Warner DVDs feature a 2013 digital remaster.

The DVD and BD soundtracks are all currently listed as English only, but there's also a lot of Spanish, French and German spoken, especially in the first 20 minutes or so. The French releases are noted as best overall but only have French subs, so are no good if you only speak English.

The French BD digibook is in English.

How can you tell the difference with the discs?
Are the English subtitles for the non-English portions only or are they for the entire film, or both?

According to the reviews, Warner's initial botched disc matches the BD's label art and sleeve. I've searched loads but can't find anything definitively stating that the corrected DVD differs in any way. But the listing, as posted to Amazon by Warner's is correct.

Which release's English subs are you referring to? All three US discs have additional burned-in subs for non-English dialogue, whereas the UK discs only have optional English subs for the entire film. From an English-speaking perspective, none of the three BDs gets it completely right!

Unless someone can acquire copies of both and scrutinise them, I'm unaware of any differences between Warner's DVDs. Theoretically, ordering from their two listings should result in getting one of each, but as you probably know, there's no guarantee that Amazon dealers will always list their stock in the right place.

Re the BDs, that was more of an aside. The French BD has the best transfer and extras, both on and off disc, but no English subs. The UK disc is slightly DNRed, has fewer extras and only optional subs for the entire film. The US has a decent non-DNRed transfer with burned-in subs for non-English, but is only single-layer with almost half the bitrate of the French and no extras at all. I have the US but might just spring for the French at some point.

Don't forget to add the Caps link and "Director-supervised 2013 digital remaster" note to all DVDs bar the initial two open matte releases!
