OFDB is listing that there are two audio tracks: One is Japanese and one is German and not a combined language track, so I am going to go with their information, unless you have something otherwise that states differently.

Updated and added to the listing. To be honest, I'm surprised how outdated and badly done the page was for all these years. All done until other release information can be found.

Thanks James. I completely agree, re the shocking state of the page. It must be one of the more popular films on this site, so I thought I'd get its comparisons tidied up a bit.

Some corrections:

Almost there: the footnotes here state the shorter theatrical cut has both German and Japanese soundtracks, while the two-disc, full length version has only Japanese.

I boo-booed on the R2 Germany - KSM: it has a runtime of 154:53 PAL (with no credits it's the same as disc one in the three-disc set).

The German three-discer's discs are mistakenly labelled ONE, ONE and TWO, rather than ONE, TWO and THREE.
You could add the runtime of it's two-disc, full length version: "and the original Japanese theatrical cut with intermission (102:07 + 91:05 or combined: 193:12).

May I suggest swapping the labels of the other German single DVD ("Pegasus/KSM" to "KSM/Pegasus") and moving it to first position of the three? This will make it clearer it's the first issued and the other one/two are the more recent and improved disc. Also, dunno if you forgot or not, but I'd still suggest adding "Remastered transfer" to their notes.

Added "remastered" but not changing distributor name.

I don't see any DVD comparison there.

Whoops again: spent so much time staring at different specs and sources, my brain must've been conflating the Beaver and Caps comparisons!

The only major release still missing is the new BFI DVD matching their BD, with or without the intermission. It'd also be good to get the other Japanese DVD transfer in there too.

The film had a no-expense-spared, 4K restoration three years ago, so that's bound to come to disc at some point...

I updated the Japanese disc with the correct specs. What other Japanese DVD transfer? Reissues are just the same 2 disc set but in standard packaging.

There's at least one single-disc DVD which is obviously different altogether. As many other territories initially got a single-disc release before two or three-disc reissues, I thought it may also have an earlier, non-remastered transfer. But I doubt most potential site users will care anyway.

Have just spot-checked several other notable Kurosawas but see you've updated most within the past year or two - well done. :)

The DVD comparison's linked DVD Times review is completely dead. Looks like for a while someone was adding their links regularly which is unfortunate, as it went down over 10 years ago.
