The Protector
http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=20222
General:
1. Some typos in the page (e.g. "Japanse").
2. Missing a link to the Caps-a-Holic comparison: https://caps-a-holic.com/c_list.php?c=522
88 Films:
1. The US version has a genuine stereo mix (not dual mono).
2. The US version has two English subtitle sets: The first is for the Cantonese portions, the other is SDH.
3. The HK version is anamorphic widescreen.
4. The HK version has no English mono.
5. The US version has a new 5.1 mix, which is more faithful to the original (no new sound effects and arguably better quality).
6. I cannot confirm, but I don't think the HK version is an upscale; rather, it might be SD NTSC (progressive 23.976).
[Disclaimer: I was involved in the production]
All other releases:
1. The US version is based on an upscale from Fortune Star (unlike the 2K one from 88 Films).
2. I wouldn't call the Japanese version on that Blu-ray 'remastered' as such, as it's quite dirty, etc. However, it is genuine HD.
3. There might be a contradiction in the German listing: Stereo stated in the US release, but the description mentions mono. I cannot verify, but I think Splendid may have used the stereo track from the Warner DVD.

yes he is correct. There is no english for hong kong. I was comfusing this with the audio commentary
3. The HK version is anamorphic widescreen. The ratio is strange. SImular to 1.85:1 (i was too fast there)
The subtitles stuff probably correct too
