Blu-ray B/R0 - Austia - Magnum Thunderbolt ADDED

Post by Christian_Bütikofer »

Blu-ray

Title: Magnum Thunderbolt AKA Majestic Thunderbolt AKA Lian huan pao
Country: Austria (the label has an address in Germany but it seems they released this movie from Austria)
Region: B
Releasing Studio: Cinestrange Extreme
Case Type: Mediabook
Aspect Ratio: 1.37:1
Codec: AVC MPEG-4
Picture: 1080i 50
Soundtracks: English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo, German DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo
Subtitles (optional): German
Cuts: 86:14 - this version is cut, see https://www.schnittberichte.com/schnitt ... ?ID=756005
Commentaries: Audio commentary by Tom Burgas and Christoph N. Kellerbach (German, no optional subtitles)
Extras:
Interview with Godfrey Ho (English, optional German subtitles) (16:31)
Interview with Phillip Ko (English/Chinese/Taiwanese (don't know which), optional German and English subtitles and ALWAYS burnt in English subtitles when he's talking in Chinese/Taiwanese which is practically always) (6:30) -> in the opening sequence of the movie he is credited as "Philip Ko".
Trailer (English, no optional subtitles) (3:06)
Picture Gallery (26 pictures) (2:09)
Notes: #5 of the Banned Classic(k)s. 24-page booklet (non-removable) featuring writing by Christoph N. Kellerbach. Picture quality is not better than VHS, the whole release is one big disappointment - after the fallout Cinestrange "promised" to do a proper uncut version on DVD for their customers... if and when this exchange happens remains to be seen: https://www.schnittberichte.com/news.php?ID=16018. Not in the original aspect ratio (wrongly declared as 16:9 on the backcover, it's pillarboxed). Three different covers available: Cover A, 666 copies, Cover B, 222 copies, Cover C, 111 copies.
Easter Eggs: -
Amazon ASIN: -
Source: Own it.

Both tracks are stereo and not mono (same question for the DVD)

Does it say in the menu he is speaking Taiwanese? It seems odd because he is not from Taiwan and it 's not his native tongue.

I will get to the other questions later ASAP. But I really think DVDcompare should make the remark that this "Blu-ray" version is in fact a fraud. There is nothing HD on it. Nothing. It should be noted to unsuspecting buyers. Just my opinion of course ;-) (yes, I know you make Caps-a-holic-comparisons for quality check. But this is really another thing...) I forked over 40 Swiss Francs for this. It's the most disgraceful release I have EVER seen advertised as a Blu-ray). And as you know me: I'm not complaining just because of some faults. This is a disgrace (especially for the price for
full blown HD release, it's a joke!).

I've watched a mediabook unboxing of another similar title MISSION THUNDERBOLT. The BD is a BD-R and likely Region ALL.

Magnum Thunderbolt could have the same specs.
*N=New to collection :-D, U=Upgrade :), DD=Double Dipping , R=Replacement for damaged disc :-?

To Taiwanese: I just added it as a possibility because PowerDVD identified it as such. Doesn't mean to be accurate of course.
