There is a mixup for the specs of these documentaries:

Bruce Lee: The Immortal Dragon
R1 America - Passport/Pacific Digital

Bruce Lee: The Immortal Dragon
R2 United Kingdom - Prism Leisure

The problem is that they are two completely different, unrelated documentaries, which have the exact same title.

The American dvd has the 2001 documentary produced by Phillip Dye. It's alternative title is "The Unbeatable Bruce Lee". https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0809470/
This documentary was originally titled "Bruce Lee Immortal Dragon", but the title was changed to avoid confusion with this other documentary Biography: Bruce Lee: The Immortal Dragon (1994).

The UK dvd has the 1997 documentary directed by Jude Gerard Prest. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457293/

I don't know which documentary is on the R2 Japan - Creative Axa release.

I just got the UK dvd of Unbeatable Bruce Lee (ordered it before knowing it was the same documentary as the US Immortal Dragon dvd) so here are the specs for that. This dvd runs slightly longer at 51:37 because they added a segment at the end that addresses the factual errors made in the documentary. The opening title is edited to "The Unbeatable Bruce Lee".

By looking at the image, basically. If there is ghosting, combing in the image.

I checked the UK Unbeatable and UK Immortal dvds with DVD Decrypter and it shows regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, but not 7 or 8. Are they still considered region free?

Yes. Basically we decided that if it's 1-6 or 1-8, we label them as "region 0" for DVD.
