Re: What did you watch today?
Hobbs & Shaw - Fast and the Furious spin-off, it's big, dumb, and fun. Check your brain at the door and just enjoy 2 hours of action. 7/10.
The Before Trilogy - Criterion Collection blu-ray, picked up this set at the last Barnes & Noble 50% sale. I really like early Linklater, Slacker and Dazed and Confused are great but never had the chance to see these films. I guess I wasn't initially interested in the lives of two people falling in love, but I'm glad I watched it now. They're decent films, the first gets a little pretentious, but Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy's chemistry is what really keeps you glued to the screen. The last film Before Midnight was so tense and real. 8/10.
Come and See - Criterion Collection blu-ray, this is a blind buy, what a crazy movie, powerful anti-war film from Soviet-era Russia made in 1985. Watch it once, you'll not ever need to watch it again as it'll stick with you for a long time. 9/10.

Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) [Anchor Bay Entertainment Limited Edition Tin DVD]
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) [Anchor Bay Entertainment Limited Edition Tin DVD]
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) [Dimension Films DVD]
It would be nice if some distributors started releasing their limited editions in tins again rather than almost everything in steel book. The only thing I would change is keeping as close to the blu-ray case size, rather than an oversized tin.

Downhill - While I loved "Force Majeure" the original film in which this is based on, I was hesitant considering it's a remake starring Will Farrell. I don't mind Farrell but I was worried the subtle humour would be thrown out the window... but I was pleasantly surprised. It's actually a decent remake and rather enjoyable, 7/10.
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - (Amazon Prime) Once I heard they made this, I was immediately in. Sacha Baron Cohen delivers again 14 years later with his incredibly cringe-worth humour. I wish this could have been experienced in a packed theatre, I remember how much fun that was when the first movie came out. 8/10.

Parasite - Finally had the chance to see this film, I missed the theatrical run last year, and all the subsequent hype leading up to the Oscars. I've always been a fan of Bong Joon Ho going back to The Host (2006) which is one of my all time favorite monster movies. Bong doesn't disappoint, Parasite is a masterpiece, this is an example of a filmmaker firing at all cylinders. The cast is exceptional, the story is engaging, the tension in the final act is Hitchcockian in nature and shocking in its delivery. 10/10.
