Here's the most comprehensive post on IDing the defective US disc. Note the problem only affects the 3D version of the film; the 2D is fine.

The initial UK disc, only issued in the Creature Legacy Collection, is also affected but I can't find the disc differences online. They're quite possibly the same as it's identical to the US disc, aside from having UK ratings logos. Anyone here who has it could check.

All other countries' discs are unaffected.

I don't understand what "side by side 3D" is, and not sure what the error is, if there was one. The post says that some players may not be compatible with it, but there are many functions on Blu-rays that may not be compatible with all players.

Maybe someone else who knows about this can do this?

Here you go:

On initial US and UK discs, a mistake was made in the encoding method which halved the resolution of the 3D version, effectively making it SD. The 2D version is unaffected. Universal acknowledged the error and issued corrected discs; contact Universal Studios customer support for a replacement. To check if you have a faulty disc:

Original (faulty) disc non-label side inner ring codes:
(1045535) 2092919R0 02E 010001
(1045536) 2092919R0 01E 010001

Corrected disc inner ring codes:
(1057486) 2110795R1 01E 030001
(1057487) 2110795R1 01E 020001

Alternatively, insert the disc into a BD-ROM drive and check the file date. Faulty: June or July, corrected: Sept or Oct.
