Suspicion (1941) ADDED

Post by Brent_Reid »

BD:

The US BD (exact same spec) has also been issued in France (keep case, Fnac exclusive), Spain (keep case) and the UK.
The UK is part of the Premium Collection from HMV and Fopp, and comes in a keep case with a slipcase, four art cards and a poster (ASIN: B07KFQT7SH).

The US BD is also issued in the four-BD "Alfred Hitchcock: Archive Collection" (ASIN: B08LJQ9V8T).

The Japanese BD includes an 18" x 11" reproduction poster.

New BD footnote:
Note that this film and other early Alfred Hitchcock titles have been released in many bootleg editions, and these unlicensed, supposedly "public domain" releases should all be avoided. Information regarding the copyright status of his films can be found at Brenton Film's Alfred Hitchcock: Dial © for Copyright. Hitchcock's films and their official releases are also covered in detail at Brenton Film's Alfred Hitchcock Collectors' Guide.

DVD:

The UK DVD note is somewhat equivocal; a clearer version would be: Colorized version is a heavily cropped NTSC-PAL transfer. Then change the extras note to simply: 1989 colorized version.

The German DVD has two trailers: "Bringing Up Baby" (3:28) and "That Touch of Mink" (2:07).
It is 'cut': it's the altered 1946 German theatrical release version with translated substitutions for onscreen text.
Also in 6-DVD/9-film "Alfred Hitchcock: Master of Suspense" box set (ASIN: B000FIHZ78).

New DVD footnote:
Note that this film and other early Alfred Hitchcock titles have been released in many bootleg editions. Supposedly "public domain" releases by companies such as Avenue One, Brentwood, Diamond Entertainment, Digiview, Laserlight, Mill Creek, Passion Productions, St. Clair Vision, Sonart, Westlake, Whirlwind and others should be avoided. Information regarding the copyright status of his films can be found at Brenton Film's Alfred Hitchcock: Dial © for Copyright. Hitchcock's films and their official releases are also covered in detail at Brenton Film's Alfred Hitchcock Collectors' Guide.

Sorry James: I mentioned the equivalent French box set by mistake. It's now corrected.

Great job with all the additions, thanks, but perhaps the UK DVD should say "Extras: Separate colorized version" and the US BD collection link doesn't work.

Fixed the link. The colorized version is mentioned at the bottom.

Ta. You can still add the German box set if you like; it's on all the other comparisons for its films, eg Foreign Correspondent.
