A League of Their Own UPDATED
The 4K disc in the Columbia Classics set is listed as including an English DTS-HD MA 2.0 stereo track, which is actually 2.0 surround. This track is also available on the included Blu-ray, but is not listed.

Re: A League of Their Own
There is no “2.0 surround” for DTS. It’s either mono or stereo.

Re: A League of Their Own NO UPDATE
Firstly, the audio listing for the Blu-ray is still incomplete, as it doesn't mention the DTS-HD MA 2.0 track at all.
Secondly, are you saying you can't encode 2.0 surround in DTS? Why not? It's all audio.
Thirdly, if that is true, why does it kick music into the surrounds and keep dialog in the centre channel if I play the track in Pro Logic decoding?

Re: A League of Their Own NO UPDATE
The 2.0 track is also on the standard Blu-ray? I assumed it is just the 25th anniversary edition. Is this a different disc?
If you turn “Pro-logic” on, it will spread any 2.0 stereo input to a mock 4.0 surround setup., whether a DVD or CD, etc. When we list 2.0 surround, this means the track is encoded with surround playback, meaning if it’s played on a Dolby Pro-logic receiver, it will automatically play the audio through all speakers, even if Pro-logic is turned off. DTS tracks don’t have surround encoding. Only Dolby tracks can do this.

I don't know, I don't have any other version of it, but it has a DTS-HD MA 2.0 track.James-Masaki_Ryan wrote:The 2.0 track is also on the standard Blu-ray? I assumed it is just the 25th anniversary edition. Is this a different disc?
Literally no disc I have behaves that way.If you turn “Pro-logic” on, it will spread any 2.0 stereo input to a mock 4.0 surround setup., whether a DVD or CD, etc. When we list 2.0 surround, this means the track is encoded with surround playback, meaning if it’s played on a Dolby Pro-logic receiver, it will automatically play the audio through all speakers, even if Pro-logic is turned off. Looking at the listing here, are there any differences between the currently listed 25th anniversary edition and the one in the Columbia Classics box? Same extras, the only difference being an additional lossless 2.0 audio track?
The UHD has two French tracks, Spanish Castilian, and Russian Dolby Digital 2.0 surround tracks, which should automatically fold the 2.0 track to surround. All others should be mono and without surround encoding.Matt_Bailey wrote:Literally no disc I have behaves that way.If you turn “Pro-logic” on, it will spread any 2.0 stereo input to a mock 4.0 surround setup., whether a DVD or CD, etc. When we list 2.0 surround, this means the track is encoded with surround playback, meaning if it’s played on a Dolby Pro-logic receiver, it will automatically play the audio through all speakers, even if Pro-logic is turned off. Exactly the same as with the English 2.0 track. With older films, I get 2.0 tracks that play out of FL and FR only unless I manually turn on surround decoding, and then it all collapses to the center with no activity in the sides or rears.Matt_Bailey wrote:Literally no disc I have behaves that way.If you turn “Pro-logic” on, it will spread any 2.0 stereo input to a mock 4.0 surround setup., whether a DVD or CD, etc. When we list 2.0 surround, this means the track is encoded with surround playback, meaning if it’s played on a Dolby Pro-logic receiver, it will automatically play the audio through all speakers, even if Pro-logic is turned off.
