Re: The Mummy (Spain DVD)
Any confirmation on the English audio between 34:08 and 34:12?

Re: The Mummy (Spain DVD)
Nothing mentioned in the review, but should be the same as the US release.James-Masaki_Ryan wrote:Any confirmation on the English audio between 34:08 and 34:12?
However, in regards to the original audio:
"The original monophonic sound has also not been restored and has as its main defect a high background noise (greater or lesser depending on the scene) but always present and noticeable.
The dialogs have an acceptably wide dynamic range to be a mono sound, although there is some distortion that is more noticeable in the music . In any case, the sound cinema should not fail to hear the imposing voice of Boris Karloff, although again the need for restoration in conditions also for sound is confirmed."
COMPARISON WITH OTHER EDITIONS
In 2002 Universal commercialized in Spain an edition of a disc of this film... disc that is exactly the same in the new Special Edition analyzed here. The frustrating thing is that, since July 8, 2008, a two-disc edition is available in the USA (zone 1) under the name of Universal Legacy Series, which includes the same second disc as the Spanish edition, but with the following differences in the first:
- Improved image, although it has only been slightly improved according to various sources consulted.
- New audio comentary by Rick Baker, Scott Essman, Steven Haberman, Bob Burns and Brent Armstrong.
Overall assessment
The great and only strong point of this edition is in the additional content, which if they correspond to the special edition marketed in the USA. The first album is the same as the old edition as they did with Killing a Ruiseñor - Special Edition.

Why is that? So this would be the only so far confirmed PAL release without missing audio?Nothing mentioned in the review, but should be the same as the US release.

That doesn't particularly answer if there is an audio dropout or not. The US releases have nothing in the notes but I haven't compared one of the US discs I own myself.
I'm going to add this as being "unconfirmed".

Okay, yeah because all I got is the US blu-ray version and never come across a drop-out in the audio.James-Masaki_Ryan wrote:That doesn't particularly answer if there is an audio dropout or not. The US releases have nothing in the notes but I haven't compared one of the US discs I own myself.
