1. The following releases use the same older upscaled transfer: Kam & Ronson Enterprises; HK Video; Splendid. The other releases are each different transfers in genuine HD (Mediumrare and Universal are the same, however)
2. The conclusion is a draw, despite the endorsement of the 88 Films release
3. The complete soundtrack list (except for commentaries) is as follows:
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Cantonese Mono (Original Theatrical Mix) Lorelei
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Cantonese Mono (Original Theatrical Mix) Flight of the Dragon*
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Cantonese Mono (Home Video Mix) Lorelei**
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Cantonese Mono (Home Video Mix) Flight of the Dragon*
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Classic English Dub (Lorelei)
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Classic English Dub (Flight of the Dragon)*
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Hybrid Cantonese / English (Lorelei)*
DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Hybrid Cantonese / English (Flight of the Dragon)*
5.1 Modern English DTS-HD MA
*Depending on the versions of the past, the ending theme that played would be 'Lorelei' or 'Flight of the Dragon' (and in either Cantonese or English languages). The single asterisk denotes the customised option (produced exclusively for the release), whilst the double denotes a remix; all the others were officially issued by the studios in the 80s (except the 5.1 which I believe was commissioned circa 2000 by the licensor/licensee at the time)
4. An additional SDH set was produced for the Cantonese Mono mixes with Lorelei
5. Typos: 'Epsiode'; 'sorter'
6. I would remove the following detail as it's not really a flaw (the said music, known as 'Flight of the Dragon' in the end credits, was only officially in the shorter international version): 'though note in the English audio version the High Upon High music track is not included during the end credits'
7. It should be noted that the Deluxe Edition by 88 Films is limited. See more details here: https://88-films.myshopify.com/collecti ... rs-edition
8. Hong Kong-English title: 'Armour of God'; International English title: 'The Armour of God'

And the hybrid tracks are Cantonese dialogue with English versions of the two themes?

Re: Armour of God Blu-ray ADDED FAO Scott
The characters of Jackie Chan and Alan Tam speak Cantonese (two bits were in English for technical reasons); everyone else speaks English.Eric_Cotenas wrote:And the hybrid tracks are Cantonese dialogue with English versions of the two themes?
The film was shot in locations around the world. Although the film was post-dubbed, it would appear (from mouth movements) that Jackie and Alan primarily spoke Cantonese; everyone else spoke English or possibly another language.
The Cantonese dialogue was sourced from the Hong Kong version, whilst (I believe) the English dialogue was from the Japanese LaserDisc.
There were two English versions from the 80s:
1. Matches the length of the Hong Kong version (Japanese LaserDisc; Dutch VHS). Quite rare until now.
2. Shorter edit (UK VHS). More common, even to the point that Miramax (bar some mastering errors) used it as the basis for their own version in the late 90s (with new music and dubbing, however).

SDH = Same as normal, with the addition of cues, and smatterings of songs and dialogue in English are transcribed

1. "The HoH tracks" = "The HoH track" (there's only one on Disc 1, but also not to get confused with the set on the English-dubbed version on Disc 2)
2. Typo: hybrid
3. "denote music cues" = I'd just say 'cues' because they aren't limited to music (ambient noises; characters; language changes; utterances, etc). Examples:
[tribal dialect]
[grunting]
[chief shouting]
[silence]
[speaking in dialect]
[Cantonese] Kneel down!
Uh?
[engine starts up]
- [“L-O-V-E Love” by The Wynners]
- [cheering]
♪ [English] L ♪
- [song continues on TV]
- [C] Cut the crap!
4. Change the double asterisk on the two hybrid tracks to single
5. "English (modern 2000 dub) DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1" is the ninth track (not the fifth)
6. Remove "and" from "- and an interview with actor Thorsten Nickel."?
7. "perfectbound" = "perfect-bound"
2. Typo: hybrid
