The Fog (1980) UPDATED
The German dub-only DVDs from Best Buy Movie and Best Entertainment are boots; they're both sub labels of Intergroove. Here are photos of both:

Missing ASIN for the French SE DVD: B00009QI81.
Is there a link for confirmation that all the mono audio tracks on BD and UHD-BD are downmixes of the remix, as stated in their comparison footnotes? Various folk seem convinced that at least the latest Shout! Factory releases have original mono.

Re: The Fog (1980)
Many thanks! Legal status updated PLUS Canadian releases added.
And yes; the Mono mix on the US Scream 4K is the real deal. I did some research and this is one of the things I could find:

Nice work, Anthony, but I don't see any difference in the German DVD listings, and you appear to have removed the "downmixed mono" notes from the 2013 Shout! BD listings.
Thanks for the link; I read a lot of that humongous thread but missed that post. Have this listing and added it.

Re: The Fog (1980) UPDATED FAO Anthony
Take my word for it, the legal status for the German DVDs have been updated to "Bootleg" just like how the Scream Factory releases have been identified as "Officially Licensed".
Also, we never stated the Mono mix(es) on the 2013 Scream Factory releases were downmixes (I don't think they ever were to begin with).

But the words "Bootleg" and "Officially Licensed" don't appear anywhere on the listing, so how are readers supposed to know? Plus the listings and an ad for the Best Buy Movie boot are still visible; is this a new policy?
My point about the 2013 Shout BD listings is that they should also carry the same "The Mono mix is a downmix of the 5.1 track and high-pitched." warning as the others.

I suppose I could change the Overall stating the German discs are bootlegs.
But they're not, that only applies for the remastered StudioCanal releases which are in fact high-pitched downmixes. Unless you have a source to back this claim up?Brent_Reid wrote:My point about the 2013 Shout BD listings is that they should also carry the same "The Mono mix is a downmix of the 5.1 track and high-pitched." warning as the others.

Like I said, is it a new policy that bootlegs are allowed to be detailed and advertised on this site? Genuine question.
Pretty much the same source you quoted. There are dozens of posters praising the latest Shout! release for finally including the original mono and not the previous downmix.

Yes, but that implies ONLY to the remastered StudioCanal releases, the original 2013 and 2022 Scream Blu-rays/4Ks as far as we know has the ORIGINAL UNALTERED MONO.Brent_Reid wrote:Pretty much the same source you quoted. I assume the Best Buy Movie release is the original German mono, yes.
