*The term "theatrical cut" does not appear anywhere on the packaging, I have used it to distinguish this version from the single-disc director's cut already in the comparison. The packaging does say that the duration is 118 mins; this is the only indication about which version is on the disc.
According to a splash screen shown before the film, this is a new 2K restoration exclusive to Arrow Films, which probably explains the different AR and sound compared to disc 1 in Arrow’s 2 Disc Collector’s Edition. The extra duration in this version compared to the theatrical version in the 2 Disc Collector’s Edition is mostly explained by there being a list of awards at the beginning of the film: this list is not in the theatrical version in the 2 Disc Collector’s Edition but it is in the director’s cut. This list is 1:09 but as this version is only 0:45 longer there must be another change somewhere that I haven’t noticed. The copyright date on the packaging is 2013 which is quite a lot later than Arrow’s other releases (and is probably correct for when this version was released as it contains a 25th Anniversary Trailer).
I also have Arrow’s 2 Disc Collector’s Edition that is already in the comparison. The details in the comparison are not complete:
Theatrical Cut on disc 1:
Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1 (nearer to 1.82:1 by measurement)
Cuts: No cuts (118:00 PAL)
Extras:
Arrow Films Catalogue (text with images, no trailers, eight pages)
Scenes from the Director’s Cut:
- Description of the Director’s Cut (text)
- On the Job (0:53)
- Young Bull (0:51)
- Crush (1:19)
- Meeting in Secret (1:48)
- Alternate Ending (46:22)
Director’s filmography (already in the comparison)
Director’s Cut on disc 2:
Aspect Ratio: 1.66:1
Cuts: No cuts (167:31 PAL)
Extras:
Director’s filmography (seems to be on both discs)
In the Cuts section at the end of the comparison, the order in which the director's cut and theatrical cut are mentioned in each release seems to be somewhat random...

Re: Cinema Paradiso R2 UK
Are the subtitles optional on the 2-disc edition?
Re: Cinema Paradiso R2 UK FAO baggish
Optional on disc 1, burned-in on disc 2.
I see you copied "(already in the comparison)", perhaps I shouldn't have written that!
I think it is a 2013 release not 2019. I know Amazon says 2019 but googling the barcode suggests 2013 e.g. https://blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/produ ... 7035009889 , and the 25th Anniv. Trailer makes more sense in 2013.

Re: Cinema Paradiso R2 UK FAO baggish
Don't know if it is of interest, but I just compared the "new" version with the 2-disc version, and the picture quality in the "new" version is much better.
I mentioned that there is a list of awards at the beginning of the "new" version: this list is not in the theatrical version in the 2 Disc Collector’s Edition but it is in the director’s cut. Now I have also noticed that the end credits in the "new" version are taken from the director’s cut as well. The end credits in the "new" version/director's cut are about 10 sec shorter because they have been cut in two places. The extracts from the film that are on screen at the same time are in colour (they are black and white in the disc 1 theatrical version), and the yellow used for the credits is much brighter. The cuts are noticeable because (i) the credit roll jumps and (ii) it seems they have been cut to remove two of the extracts from the film that are only in the director's cut. One of them in particular was seen as a bit of a spolier/clue to the director's cut.
