The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle box set UPDATED
Blu-ray A America - Severin Films [2023 Release]
The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle
-
General:
There are some double quote symbols where they shouldn't be:
DISC ONE"
Black Emanuelle 2" (1976)
Emanuelle in Bangkok" (1976)
-
DISC SIX :
Violence in a Women's Prison
Aspect Ratio is 1.78:1, not 1.85:1.
(OAR is apparently 1.85:1, and the 88 Films Blu-ray is reported to be 1.85:1 both on this site and on Blu-ray.com, but I don't own it myself. I do own the earlier 2019 Severin individual release, which is 1.78:1, and also has a slightly shorter runtime, although I don't know why. It is nothing obvious such as logos at the start, or extra material at the end.)
Emanuelle in Prison
soundtracks:
English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono
(there is no Italian soundtrack for this movie)
All other specs on this disc appear to be correct. I haven't checked all the other discs!
-
Emanuelle in Prison:
Blu-ray A America - Shout! Factory [2015 Release]
runtime: 88:26
(presumably the same also on the Canadian disc)
-
Also, some of the "Overall" verdicts for theses movies still need updating, but I guess this might be a work in progress!

Re: The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle box set
Sorry, I had spotted more issues, and edited my post, presumably after you read it. There are still 2 small things for Emanuelle in Prison:
a language correction
a runtime addition (for Shout! Factory)
-
Emanuelle in Prison

English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono

Re: The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle box set
Thanks Eric, looks good now.
I am in the process of going through the discs in the box set. This is not a thorough check of the specs, mainly checking the runtimes and the language options for my own records, but if I spot any other errors I'll post the details.

More corrections:

Black Velvet (Velluto Nero)
-
General: It might be worth adding "Black Velvet" to the list of titles for both the DVD and Blu-ray pages, since that is its name in the Severin Blu-ray box set
-
Severin DVDs (American and Canadian releases):
1. Slightly cut version.
I cannot be sure of the precise details, but it seems to be essentially the same version as the Severin Blu-ray, but with many scenes shortened very slightly, reducing the runtime by about 2:39.
2. Opening credits are in Italian, but seem to be a different set compared with the Severin Blu-ray. No closing credits except for the word "FINE".
3. Release title: Black Emmanuelle White Emmanuelle
4. Onscreen title: Velluto Nero
-
Full Moon Pictures Blu-rays (American and Canadian releases):
1. The movie is cut in various places compared with the Severin Blu-ray.
The cuts are as follows (position times are as per the Full Moon Pictures Blu-ray):
a. Missing the opening screen of Italian text (0:15)
b. Opening credits run shorter (0:05)
c. A further 7 seconds missing in the following 5 minutes after the credits - precise details unknown (0:07)
d. Missing the end of an outdoor shot and the first part of the next interior scene at 69:59 (2:11)
e. Missing a section in the middle of the interior scene at 72:52 (0:42)
f. A futher 5 seconds missing in the following 12 minutes - precise details unknown (0:05)
g. Severin Blu-ray has additional black frames at the end (0:06)
2. Release title: Emanuelle Black Velvet
(only one M)
3. Onscreen title: Vicieuse Emmanuelle
4. Opening credits are in French. No closing credits except for the word "FIN".
5. The subtitles for scenes in Italian are burnt-in.
-
Severin box set Blu-ray:
1. The subtitle options are:
English (partial)
English (full)
English HoH
The English (partial) subtitle option is what is used if you select subtitles OFF. This is true even if you select the Italian soundtrack, although it is clearly intended for the English soundtrack. It is to translate Italian text on screen, and also for scenes that were never dubbed into English where the soundtrack reverts to Italian. There seems to be no option in the disc menu to select no subtitles at all, but this can still be done manually via the player menu.
Most of the movies in this box set only have English HoH, but unusually this movie also has regular full English subtitles, as well as the partial subtitles.
2. Release title: Black Velvet
3. Onscreen title: Velluto Nero
4. Opening and closing credits are in Italian.

Severin box set
DISC ONE:
"I am Your Black Queen" - the audio interview dates from 1996 or earlier.
This is a featurette that I believe was created for Severin's 2018 Blu-ray of Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals. It consists of an audio interview with Laura Gemser, set to still images and movie clips. As such, the featurette dates from 2018. However, according to the book in the box set, the audio interview was conducted for Nocturno Magazine, and first appeared in text form in a special supplement in 1996, so the actual interview is at least as old as that.
My understanding is that Laura Gemser has not done any interviews regarding her movies for a long time. There is also a different audio interview with her on the Blue Underground DVD of Emanuelle in America.

Re: The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle box set
More corrections:
---
DISC NINE:
Divine Emanuelle (Love Camp)
Soundtrack(s):
Export Version
English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono
French DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono
Director's Cut
English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono
(i.e. there is no Italian soundtrack)
---
DISC TEN:
Extra: Looking Good
runtime: 60:58
(Note that the picture ends at 60:44 and the sound ends at about 60:48, but there is a further 0:10 of black/silence at the end.)
Aspect Ratio: 1.23:1
(The AR is not currently mentioned, but I thought people mind find this useful. And no, that's not a typo, it really is that narrow at just 1.23:1. I'm not sure why, since it was presumably released on VHS back in the 1980s, or at least was planned to be, suggesting it ought to be 1.33:1. The picture does not look obviously squeezed, so it is a mystery.)
---
DISC ELEVEN:
Amore libero - Free Love
Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1
Extras:
"The Seductress" 2023 audio interview with actress Olga Bisera (9:56, in Italian with optional English HoH subtitles)
English Opening Credit Sequence (2:01)
Theatrical Trailer (3:21)
-
Emanuelle: A Woman from a Hot Country
Soundtrack(s):
English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono
Spanish DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono
(There are no extras for this movie)
---
DISC TWELVE:
Black Deep Throat
Extras:
"Ajita Wilson: An Elusive Icon" 2023 video essay by film and gender studies scholar Matt Richardson (16:03)
Theatrical Trailer (2:17)
-
Porno Nights of the World N.2
runtime: 94:51
Extras:
Theatrical Trailer (3:09, in English with optional English subtitles for onscreen Italian text)
---
DISC THIRTEEN:
Inferno Rosso: Joe D'Amato on the Road of Excess
Subtitles:
The menu gives options for: English, English HoH
However, so far I have not been able to find any difference between the two. I tried out the HoH subtitles at the start of several music cues, and they were not mentioned in the subtitles.
The following extra needs updating, for the box set and the individual releases:
Outtakes (36:25, in a mixture of English/French/Italian with optional English subtitles for the non-English sections)
(although the vast majority of it is in Italian)
---
DISC NINE:
Divine Emanuelle (Love Camp)
Soundtrack(s):
Export Version
English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono
French DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono

Re: The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle box set FAO Eric
Thanks Eric.
The non-box set stuff all looks fine.
A couple of things I've noticed about the Severin Box set updates:
1. You added this note re: the extra "Looking Good":
*The picture ends at 60:44 and the sound ends at about 60:48, but there is a further 0:10 of black/silence at the end. Aspect Ratio is 1.23:1.
However, it is in the notes on the page for "Love Camp", which is on DISC NINE.
The extra is on DISC TEN, so the note should be on the page for "Emanuelle: Queen of the Desert".
2. For DISC ELEVEN, when viewing the page for "Emanuelle: A Woman from a Hot Country ", the extras for this disc are listed under this movie, whereas they should be listed under the other movie on the disc "Amore Libero – Free Love". This issue only seems to be on this page, not on the pages for the other movies in the set, although I haven't checked all of them!

Re: The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle box set UPDATED
For:
Emanuelle: Queen of the Desert (DISC TEN)
The note regarding "Looking Good" is now on the correct page, but there is just one asterisk (*) by the extra, and two (**) by the note. There are already single and double asterisks used for some of the CD tracks, so I would recommend using a triple asterisk (***) by the extra and the note.
All other fixes seem to be complete.

Re: The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle box set UPDATED
Thanks Eric
I don't think I personally checked all the details of the lower numbered discs in this set, although I think I checked the runtimes of all the movies. However, in terms of extras, language details and so on, I can't remember what I checked and what I didn't, and in any case I expect you've had enough of updating this box set for now!
Hopefully it's all good now anyway, but I might check more details when I watch the movies, which will probably be over the next couple of years, and If I spot any more errors, I will report them then.
