Never Been Kissed (1999) R1 DVD Correction UPDATED

For "R1 America - Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment", it says that the DVD is Non-Anamorphic and only lists languages in English. Either the information is incorrect, or there are two R1 releases because the DVD I have is most definitely Anamorphic - and it includes a 4:3 fullscreen copy, too! - and has a few languages.

The specs for the disc I have are as follows:

Can only change picture format on disc boot up. There's no option to change it once you get to the main menu.

I have two copies of the same disc, one individual and one in a double feature two-disc set with Ever After. Both discs are exactly the same. Weirdly, the back of the double feature case only lists the film as being in fullscreen. (FYI: Both films in the set are anamorphic widescreen & fullscreen, with Ever After being dual-sided, and Never Been Kissed being single-sided).

1. Fox did 16:9 upgrades of some of their early releases without fanfare (i.e. Great Expectations which was 4:3 on individual release but 16:9 on two double feature sets which were easily passed off as a means of moving old stock).

2. A few 4:3 letterbox Fox discs like The Abyss are flagged for pan-and-scan playback that would be cropped to fullscreen on a 4:3 TV (if your player is set for it) but it “zooms in” to 16:9 on a widescreen monitor. Your best bet to check would be opening the discs in VLC on your computer and seeing if the film (not just the menu) plays in 16:9 or 4:3 letterbox.

This is *definitely* a quiet anamorphic re-release.
