Running time of the remastered DVD: 1:44:11. Uncut.

Elsewhere (on the DVD page):
  • 1. The English dub on Eureka's Blu-ray is PAL-pitched (NTSC-tempo).
    2. Could you update the details for the US version to remove details (originally supplied by me, but lacking) and link to Movie Censorship instead (https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=344682)?
    3. There is one scene that featured on the Hong Kong laserdisc which appears to have been excised from subsequent remastered home video releases (also the original export version); the scene appears as a bonus on some editions (including the European and UK editions): https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=472650 It shouldn't be confused with the actual Taiwanese version (the content of which doesn't appear on any Western edition): https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=438067
    4. 'My Father is Hero' = Hong Kong English title (with missing article [a]); 'My Father is a Hero' = international English title; 'The Enforcer' = Dimension Films title. This should be revised in the listing (i.e. defaulting to 'My Father is a Hero').
    5. Deleted Scene (1:21) / Hong Kong Theatrical Trailer (3:52, in Cantonese with burnt-in English subtitles) = the deleted scene (from the LD) has Cantonese and burnt-in subtitles, whilst the trailer has removable ones .
    6. The 1998 Mei Ah DVD (there seem to be three artworks; presumably one of those is this edition) is NTSC and progressive (not PAL). It has a running time of 1:44:25; when compared with the remaster, the running time difference seems to be attributed to the China Star Entertainment Group ident at the very start.

About the Eureka! Entertainment Blu-ray:
  • 1. Can you mention in the notes that it's a newer restoration?
    2. As mentioned above (for the DVD section), the deleted scene is believed to be from the Hong Kong theatrical version (wasn't in the Taiwanese one). It's Cantonese (not Mandarin).
    3. "Crowd Pleaser" 2009 interview with producer Wong Jing (17:36, in Cantonese with English subtitles) = in English without subtitles.
    4. "Like Father, Like Son" 2009 interview with actor Tse Miu (16:33, in Cantonese with English subtitles) = in Mandarin with burnt-in subtitles.
    5. "Born To Be Bad" 2009 interview with actor Ken Lo (20:11, in Cantonese with English subtitles) = burnt-in subtitles.
    6. Some of the physical packaging refers to 'The Enforcer' (not sure if it was an early decision that couldn't be reversed), but elsewhere, it's 'My Father is a Hero'.

Please be specific. I don't see any notes you provided for any US DVD, and there is not listing for a Dragon Dynasty Blu-ray/
  • ·Deleted scene: English and Chinese subtitles.
    ·Trailer: English subtitles.
Which release are you referring to?

Sorry, I meant the Dragon Dynasty DVD.

These are the notes I refer to (which I submitted well over a decade ago):
- the U.S. video cut (~104 minutes) but trimmed by twenty-five seconds to get an R-rating (Special thanks to Rewind user chen lung for providing this information). Cuts include:
-- Kung Wei kicking and dislocating an arm of a thug (0:02).
-- Kung Wei defending against the dog that jumps up at him (0:05).
-- Darkie's vomiting after being lifted up from the side of the building (0:02).
-- Siu Ku's reaction (and vomit of blood) to Po Kwong's kick (0:02).
-- The real reason why Siu Ku passed out: Kung Wei squeezing his throat (0:14).

I missed some items, and Movie Censorship is a more suitable place for details and screenshots, etc.
Which release are you referring to?
M.I.B. Austria DVD.

5. Deleted Scene (1:21) / Hong Kong Theatrical Trailer (3:52, in Cantonese with burnt-in English subtitles) = the deleted scene (from the LD) has Cantonese and burnt-in subtitles, whilst the trailer has removable ones .

I assume they have optional German subtitles? What are the runtimes for the trailers?

These were missed.

Eureka! Entertainment Blu-ray
Mei Ah (remaster) DVD
Notes:
  • - Cantonese mono seems to be a downmix of the 5.1 (e.g. one omitted piece of dialogue from the original mix elsewhere).
    - Black sticker placed over DTS logo (such a mix absent from the disc).
    - Interlaced.
-----

The film exists in three primary versions

Not sure what this means, so leaving to out since it doesn't seem to be of much consequence. Updated the rest.

The film's original title is 'My Father is a Hero' (or 'My Father is Hero'). Dimension Films re-titled it to 'The Enforcer' (or 'Jet Li's The Enforcer').

However, Eureka's packaging (inconsistently) mentions 'The Enforcer' (disc; slipcase) or 'My Father is a Hero' (artwork on the Amaray case). It's as though they made a later correction to 'My Father is a Hero' after possibly receiving feedback, but it's ended up looking a bit silly.

The Hong Kong trailer on Eureka's release is a reconstruction; footage that was originally deleted is substituted. I was disappointed that a re-scan of the proper original supposedly hadn't taken place.
