Whispering Death a.k.a. Night of the Askari a.k.a. Albino a.k.a. Death in the Sun (First viewing, YouTube) – 7/10
The fiancée of a British South African police officer, and daughter of a retired colonialist, is brutally raped and murdered by the leader of the black nationalist guerrillas – a black albino known by the nickname “Whispering Death”. Embittered by the violent tragedy, the officer (James Faulkner), along with three of his farmworkers, sets out to hunt down the guerillas and avenge the tragic death of his loved one.
This is a gritty revenge thriller set during the British colonial years of Southern Rhodesia in the 70s.
Christopher Lee, Sybil Danning and Trevor Howard co-star.
Genre: Drama, Thriller
Worth watching? Only if you like obscure 70s revenge thrillers
Worth re-watching? Yes, if you’re a fan of Christopher Lee
Bottom-line? If you like watching obscure 70s revenge thrillers, this comes recommended.
The DVD is very hard to find. The best release was the German release, which is now OOP. Hoping to see it on Blu-ray.

Man of Tai Chi (2013) (First viewing) - 6.5/10
An up-and-coming young Tai Chi martial artist gets more than he bargained for when he accepts a lucrative offer by a mysterious businessman (Keanu Reeves ) who allures him to fight in no-holds-barred underground martial arts pay-per-view matches that are broadcast live on the internet to worldwide audiences.
What's quite good?
- The plot
- The fight sequences
What's not-so-good?
- The lead Chinese actor's rather wooden acting and... haircut!
- A couple of unresolved subplots
Keanu Reeves directs. Simon Yam, Karen Mok and Iko Uwais co-star.
Genre: Action, Martial Arts, Drama
Worth watching? Yes, if you're curious to see Keanu Reeves' directorial debut
Worth re-watching? No, unless you're a fan of contemporary kung fu movies with frenetic martial arts fights
Bottom-line? A martial arts movie with a message about life choices. Quite entertaining.

Picked up the Criterion The Silence of the Lambs blu-ray and watched it today, haven't seen the film in several years and it still holds up. Terrific. The Criterion blu is worth every penny.

Strange that this is a DTV in the US but getting a theatrical release in some Asian and a few European countries. I'm even more surprised they're producing another sequel.Ain_Uussaar wrote:Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018)

They hoped for popularity of Stallone but damn this POS is bombing hard here. Good that I didn't waste time and money on this in cinema.Davy_Lee wrote:Strange that this is a DTV in the US but getting a theatrical release in some Asian and a few European countries.
