Shock Corridor - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, more classic Sam Fuller, probably one of his finest and that ending is so striking! 9/10.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)

The Player - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, Robert Altman's excellent satire on Hollywood, haven't seen this in years and still holds up today. 9/10.

Black Narcissus - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, Powell and Pressburger's stunningly visual exorcise in subdued eroticism. A group of nuns set out to establish a convent in the Himalayan Mountains in an old temple that once housed a harem. The nuns encounter conflict and tension that results in a shocking climax. For a film made in the 40's the visual effects, matte paintings, production design, and cinematography are an incredible feat of creativity that was ahead of its time, 8/10.

Cluny Brown - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, a comedy from Ernts Lubitsch, set in pre-WWII England features an effervescent leading performance from Jennifer Jones as a plumber's niece sent to work in a stuffy English manor, 6.5/10.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga - Will Ferrell's latest comedy dropped on Netflix and I watched this last night with the girlfriend, it was fun but for a comedy that runs just over 2 hours it overstays its welcome. It could have been shorter and just as funny without loosing too much, otherwise it's decent but forgettable entertainment, 6.5/10.
Cold War - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, Pawel Pawlikoski's sweeping and turbulent love story told over fifteen years and spanning across several post-war European countries, beautiful black and white photography matched with subdued and brilliant performances from Joanna Kulig and Tomasz Kot, 9/10.

Some Like It Hot - The Criterion Collection blu-ray. Surprisingly I have never seen this classic Billy Wilder comedy before, it's very funny, and somehow both ahead of its time and very much a product of its time. Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon display wonderful chemistry, and Marilyn Monroe in one of her most iconic roles. 8/10.

The Kid - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, the brilliant Charlie Chaplin silent classic. For a film that's almost 100 years old not only has the restoration preserved the film in incredible detail and quality but the humour still holds up today. The film somehow still feels relevant, what an imaginative and iconic performer Chaplin was. Truly a masterpiece. 10/10.

Widows - 4K UHD, I've had this film on my list for some time, I really like Steve McQueen's films and this under-appreciated thriller is top notch. I'm not sure why this film didn't click with audiences when it came out, which is a shame. The film was brilliant, had an interesting plot, terrific cinematography, and incredible performances from a who's who of Hollywood talent. 9/10.
