Criterion has It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World

Post by Anthony_DiPaola »

I always like to pretend and imagine what if Criterion got It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World and tonight, my dream came true! A friend of mine on Facebook said that an owner of the Home Theater Forums confirmed that Criterion has It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World and just in time for it's 50th anniversary!! This is oh-so exciting for me, I can double-dip for the Blu-ray and seeing is how without a doubt a DVD version will be available too, I can get rid of my 2001 DVD. I hope all the extras are ported over and that both General Release and Extended Versions will be included (complete with the Overture, Intermission/En'Tracte, and Closing music and cards). Shame Jonathan Winters passed away recently (ironically on the film's 50th birthday), cause I would've love to see another new interview with him on the film.

what's the original aspect ratio?
Is it 2.74:1 as on the blu-ray from Fox?

A note needs to be added at http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film. ... 98#overall that all DVD releases feature the cropped aspect ratio, original being 2.74:1, and DVDs being 2.55:1, the left and right edges are cropped.
