not sure about anamorphic or non-anamorphic? What is your setup?

On your Blu-ray player there should be a function in setup to “stretch” your picture to “full”, so non-anamorphic dvds play stretched to widescreen (and no one should really ever do that!) but if it stretches, it is in fact non-anamorphic.
If it stays 1.33:1 with black bars on the sides, it is anamorphic with the black bars encoded into the video.

It's Pioneer player. There are four display settings: 16:9 Full, 16:9 Normal, 4:3 Pan&Scan and 4:3 Letterbox. The picture stays 1.33:1 with 16:9 Full and 16:9 Normal so it is anamorphic.

My concern is why the DVD is so long

The back of the DVD case from Divisa says 104 minutes, which seems the same as the Blu-ray. If it were a PAL transfer, it should be 5% faster, approximately 99 minutes. Could you check the DVD runtime again, make sure the 109 minute runtime is correct?

My mistake

99:55 (disc duration) - 0:27 (Video Mercury Films intro) = 99:28
