Running time(s) for Start-up Trailers?
Codec for 2D disc?

My BD player refuses to show the runtime (or the elapsed time) for the two start-up trailers. (PowerDVD refuses to play the disc altogether.)

As MVC is a 3D-variety of MPEG-4, it should be deducted that the 2D disc uses MPEG-4. I haven’t ever encountered an instance of MPEG-2 or VC-1 in cases like this where a 3D version uses MVC.

My BD player does that sometimes also. But pressing i (information) button on remote controller shows additional information with running time. Have you tried this?

Yes, I have, and the runtime information only appears as “––:––” there.

Same. Sometimes happens on Fox Blu-rays where the runtimes don't appear for the start-up trailers.
