I own the American release of Sputnik. Some corrections:
There are both English and English HoH subtitles.
The English HoH subtitles reproduce accurately the English-language dub; the English subtitles, however, present a different and more free translation of the dialogue.
The package mentions only “English HoH” subtitles.
During the playback, the changing of subtitles and audio tracks via the SUBTITLE and AUDIO button of one’s remote control is prohibited (but it can be done via pop-up menu). There is only one subtitle selection in the main menu. If an English audio track is selected, selecting “English subtitles on” (in the main menu) gives you the HoH subtitles. If the Russian audio is selected, the same selection gives you the normal subtitles. Also, the English audio description follows the English subtitles.
With English dub and ”subtitles off” there is still a subtitle track on that translates title cards and on-screen texts.
Start-up trailers
– Tesla (2:21)
– Centigrade (1:53)
– Rent-a-Pal (1:51)
All trailers are in HD (1080p24).
I had thought that English-friendly status alone is not sufficient to make a release winner. Shouldn’t this be a draw between the American and the German release (only language differences)?

Re: Sputnik (American Blu-ray)
Changed to a draw. Thank you!
