This wasn't updated. Is it DVD-ROM content?

The disc is read only content.
Therefore, it is not DVD-RAM.

As far as I know, all retail DVDs are DVD-ROM.
So, even if the disc only has video content, it is a DVD-ROM.
With the game executable included, it is still a DVD-ROM.

So, I'll say that the disc is DVD-ROM.

Is there a reason to be so specific about the disc being DVD-ROM?

I'm asking if it is DVD-ROM content, as in do you need a computer to access the game? Can you use a standalone DVD player and play it with the remote through the extras menu?

Can you confirm "Guest House Paradiso" has an English 5.1 track, and not a 2.0 track instead?
Also, the German track is stereo, and not 2.0 surround encoded?

James, I am not sure about the audio. I get different results using different dvd playing software on my computer.

I analysed the audio using an editor. It seems both, the English and German audio, are 5.1!
It seems to be that the main spoken words is a single channel (of the 5.1) for both (English and German). The rest (of the 5.1) are effects and ambient noise.

What software are you using?
What appears when playing on a standalone DVD or Blu-ray player?

James,

to playback the dvd on the computer, i use VLC and MPC (media player classic).

VLC gives me this information:
- Stream 1
- Codec A52 <------- this could mean anything

- Stream 2
- Codec A52
- Channels 3F2M/LFE <------- this means 5.1

MPC gives me this information:
- Audio English AC3 48000 Hz 16 bits 2 channels
- Audio German AC3 48000 Hz 16 bits 2 channels

but at the same time, there is another information panel in MPC that gives me this information:
- Audio Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 448kbps, 5.1
- Audio Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 448kbps, 5.1

so to be certain, i extracted both audio tracks from the movie and viewed the AC3 files in an audio editor.

the audio editor software showed that there were indeed 6 channels (5.1) for both - English and German - tracks.

the main dialogue spoken by the actors only use one of the channels. all other channels are for effects, ambient noise, music etc.

to me, the audio editor tells it like it is - both audio tracks are 5.1.

i suspect VLC and MPC only display what is written into the tags of the encoded dvd files. if the tags are wrong, VLC/MPC display the wrong information.

and finally, i do not have a standalone dvd/blu-ray player, nor tv, nor stereo/5.1 audio equipment.

hope that clears things up.

I double checked the audio for all the other dvds, using the audio editor. they are all Dolby 2.0 stereo.

Also, the back of the boxset, there is information about the region, subtitles and audio. But it is not clear to which dvds they apply to.

Maybe you can add a note to the database entry to say the information is not clear or is to be ignored.

Well, since we had other users confirm the 5.1 tracks, they seem to be correct.
Added them all. Thank you.
