So are they optional or forced?Christian_Bütikofer wrote:Extras: (English audio only, optional Dutch, French subtitles)

If you choose Netherlands or Français: Then the subs for the extras are forced (but only available for the language you choose - either Dutch or French, no choice there). But if you choose English, they are not available at all: No English subs (no option at all by remote, even if you chose in the menu: English subs - but ONLY for the extras).
If you choose French or Dutch (at the beginning), then they are there, but forced. I guess it is one of those discs from the early dvd days, where the companies didn't really know what to do for customers.
Short: There are subs, but ONLY if you do the "right" choice at the beginning (you put in the DVD and have to decide from the start to which language group you belong to. Funny thing: Normally, I saw this for other releases: The language of the menu also changes - not in this case: I programmed my player for English as my preferred language: It's still always in German (if I chose French or Dutch at the beginning, it is still German)... so I guess: There is no French or Dutch user interface either for the menu - but it changes the availabily for the subs in the Extras (and only the subs for the extras), which come automatically and you can't change them by remote, so there is no choice actually).
The subs for all three languages are available by remote for all the episodes - no matter what you did at the beginning. But not the extras . If I choose English, I have two options for subs in the menu: German, English - and, by remote control, Dutch, but only for the episodes, not the extras. Dutch and French doesn't exist In the menu. But no matter what language I choose, Dutch is available (by remote) but this only concerns the episodes.
