Bowling For Columbine (2002) - JP R2 DVD ADDED

Post by Michael_Byers »

Title: Bowling For Columbine (2002)
Country: Japan
Region: 2
Releasing Studio: Toshiba (see notes)
Case Type: Clear Keep Case
Aspect Ratio: 1.78:1 (compared to the R1 America, not the same)
Anamorphic?: Yes
PAL or NTSC?: NTSC
Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1 (448kbps), Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 (most of the film is dubbed over with English audio underneath, 448 kbps)
Subtitles (are they optional?): Japanese, yes optional. Extras have subtitles as well, all optional.
Cuts: (and if you know it, precise run time) none - runtime is 119:39
Commentaries: none

Extras:
Appearance biographies of Michael Moore, Marilyn Manson, Charlton Heston, Matt Stone, and George W. Bush.
Compilation of interviews with Michael Moore - looks to be Japanese exclusive, talks about Japan specifically - 8:56 (4:3)
Michael Moore Q&A at some press conference in the UK - 20:56 (4:3) - this is possibly the same as the one on the other versions: "Michael Moore Interviewed by Clinton Press Secretary Joe Lockhart at HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival" Interview) - however, this and the interview compilation both have the exclusive artwork from the Japanese poster/DVD on their titles and bumpers, so even if the content is the same, the videos are different. I do not have any other version than this and the single disc R1 America, so it could be exclusive as well.
Japanese trailer - 2:27 (4:3 letterboxed)
US trailer - 2:10 (4:3 letterboxed)

Notes: Catalog number is PIBF-7549. Disc/back cover states produced by Toshiba, however there are multiple logos on the spine, including Toshiba, Pioneer, and taki corporation. Back cover states Distributed by GAGA. Some sites say released by Pioneer and that is definitely a Pioneer catalog number.

If anyone would like to compare the extras on this to any of the other versions, I would be more than happy to pull them from the disc and upload them privately.

Why did you put specs for the German DVD on this thread? This is for the Japanese R2 release. I would think you should have started your own entry / thread for yours.

People are encouraged to share information on multiple releases of a single film.
If you start a thread on a Japanese release, but someone (or yourself) has specs for other country's releases, then it can be put in the same thread.

Anyway, added all of them, thanks!
