GENERAL NOTES:
The film originally ran 138 minutes for its 1927 commemorative screening but was trimmed down to 102 minutes for commercial release in 1928. It was restored to 102 minutes in 1966 by Eisenstein associate Grigori Alexandrov who prepared a "sound version" that retained intertitles but added some sound effects and crowd noises as well as a synchronized soundtrack by Dmitri Shostakovich. -
