The Artisan SE is the best release, with a DTS track and extras. However, the R4 DVD contains 2 exclusive documentaries. (The R2 DVD contains these documentaries too, however it is CUT - see notes).
Three versions are known:
1.) The original (censored) US broadcast version (266 mins NTSC / 256 mins PAL).
2.) The director's cut (297 mins NTSC / 285 mins PAL).
3.) The original (uncensored) International version (292 mins NTSC / 280 mins PAL). -
CUTS:
- R1 America- Artisan Entertainment - No cuts - US Broadcast Version (266:19 NTSC).
- R1 Special Edition Director's Cut America- Artisan Entertainment - No cuts - Director's Cut, but missing end credits for Parts I and II, and opening credits for Parts II and III (290:14 NTSC).
- R2 France- Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment - No cuts (290 mins PAL).
- R2 3-Disc Set United Kingdom- Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment - Yes - International Version, but the BBFC required 7 secs of cuts to sight of a man having his neck broken in a fight sequence in the first episode to maintain a '12' rating (292 mins NTSC->PAL).
- R4 3-Disc Set Australia- Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment - No cuts - International Version (291:39 NTSC->PAL).
