OVERALL: Draw
The Wicked-Vision edition is the most comprehensive, although you must have a Blu-ray player since some of the extras are only on the Blu-ray discs in combo.
This film has multiple versions:
- UK theatrical release which is also the director's cut (86 minutes).
- The export version which has some alternate scenes of nudity (86 minutes).
- The US release retitled "The Conquerer Worm" which is the same as the UK version except for the title and a Poe quote text screen. -
CUTS:
- R0 Australia- Umbrella Entertainment - No Cuts - The film has two different versions presented on this DVD, "the director's cut" (82:52), complete with scenes of added violence, and "the international cut" (82:52), complete with nudity in the tavern scenes. Both seem to have scenes that have been cut from the film, and re-inserted back into them, although they both have different opening text cards.
- R0 Limited Collector‘s Edition Germany- Wicked-Vision - No cuts - director's cut (83:13 PAL)
- R0 Digitally Remastered Special Edition United Kingdom- Odeon Entertainment - No Cuts - This is the full Director's Cut taken from a print with no video inserts & contains the additional axe blow missing from previous UK releases. The 'Continental' scenes are not included even as an extra (83:09 PAL).
- R1 Midnite Movies America- MGM Home Entertainment - No cuts - Director's Cut (86:42 NTSC) including an extra second or so with Ian Ogilvy striking Vincent Price a third time with an axe.
- R2 Classic Edition FSK 16 Germany- MC One - Yes - "FSK 16" (81:19 PAL). Further cuts (approx. 23 seconds) compared to the "FSK 18"-edition.
