OVERALL: R1
The Hit Entertainment Collector's Edition and Vivendi release have the shortest version but the deleted scenes are in the special features. It's also got substantial extras. There's also no Kermit narration.
The Columbia releases: The original release has less scenes cut from it. Unfortunately it is difficult to tell the difference between the two releases without checking the disc as they have the same page on Amazon.
U.S. re-releases (R1 CE by "HIT Entertainment" and R1 by "Lionsgate") are the original 1977 edit (only all scenes / narration with Kermit the Frog have been removed) and they include some extras. For more info, please see the link at muppet.wikia.com.
A R1 Sony release from 2017 is also available which restores additional footage including the scenes with Kermit the Frog (but no narration), but mattes the special to 1.78:1 widescreen. If you have this release, please let us know via our forums. -
