OVERALL: Draw

- Draw between R1 single disc and "The Blind Dead Collection" as both feature two versions of the movie in its original aspect ratio with anamorphic transfers and English subtitles where needed.

The "Blind Dead Collection" version is a PAL > NTSC conversion, but it features a bonus disc (as well as discs of the other three films in the series) while the R1 single disc version features a proper progressive transfer at the correct 24 fps running time of ~101 minutes.

Do note that the 83 minute English language version is not representative of the English export version as longer dubbed versions have been available on American (featuring gore not included in the 83 minute version but missing most of the train massacre), Dutch (featuring most of the missing gore and the train massacre but not the Templar flashback), and Japanese (seemingly the longest export version) VHS tapes (with the onscreen title TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD, whereas the 83 minute version features the onscreen title THE BLIND DEAD).

- R2 Germany by Sunfilm Entertainment has only the original Spanish version, also in 1.66:1 Anamorphic, with the original Spanish Mono and it is a proper transfer. It has also some extras on its bonus disc. However, it has only German subtitles.

Note that the UK release has additional Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 tracks, and is a proper PAL transfer, but it has been cut by 0:16 by the BBFC, and thus should be avoided.

Also note that the XT Video boxset seems to offer the film in 1.85:1 instead of the original 1.66:1.

GENERAL NOTES:
The film exists in a number of versions:
- the original Spanish domestic cut;
- the longer integral assembly featuring scenes never dubbed into English and scenes of violence and nudity intended for export (~102 minutes);
- the export version which moved the Templar flashback to the start of the film and featuring scenes of violence and nudity not included in the Spanish cut (~97 minutes);
- and various US theatrical, TV, and video cuts including the shortest English version (~83 minutes) as well as a more complete VHS edition that trimmed much of the train massacre (which was shown intact but darkened on Elvira's Movie Macabre).
