The film exists in two versions:
- the original uncut version (121 minutes)
- a shorter international version (116 minutes) trimmed of two scenes:
- when Molière is rehearsing with Marquise when pregnant Armande appears, telling her that she was beaten up by nuns;
- the funeral of Gros-René.

The French Blu-ray lists a runnning time of 116 minutes suggesting that this version is approved by the director.
