OVERALL: Blu-ray ALL
Currently the only release we have specs for.
This US-UK co-production exists in three differing versions:
(1.) The US R-rated cut is missing the following compared to the UK-release:
- :02 shot of actor John Glover with blood shooting out of his back which is included in the UK Carlton DVD but which was otherwise badly cut by the BBFC.
- A very brief cut to the death of Mollochs henchman Randolph (Raymond St. Jacques) with the knife in his throat.
(2.) The UK release as cut by the BBFC. The Carlton DVD: This contains a shot of blood running from Randolphs mouth and over his left forearm. However, the Network DVD cuts the scene as soon as blood begins to dribble from Randolphs mouth as per the US version. Both of these bits are missing from the US version, but the UK edit is otherwise missing much violent footage found in the US Cut.
1:02 min by the BBFC:
- The electricity torture scene was very heavily edited and loses several bloody close-ups.
- The shotgun killing of a hired thug, Cannell, lost a shot of his bloody face when Bronson shoots & a more lingering shot of his bloody corpse.
- The film also suffered cuts from the opening fight in the bar in particular Bronson twisting a thugs testicles.
*The cinema release was cut by 52 sec and then the video versions from 1986 (Heron) & 2000 (Carlton) suffered 10 sec of additional cuts. (Info from "Melon Farmers")
(3.) The Unrated Version which has the same runtime as the US R-rated cut but with alternate footage.
Information on differences between the US R-rated version with the UK version can be found at Movie-Censorship.
